..if a GPU is GDDR3 or DDR2, based on specs that don't list what it is? I was wondering how an average joe (such as myself), with a somewhat decent knowledge of computers could tell the type based on reading the specs listed on a website.

I'm not asking for an opinion on a notebook to buy, I was asking a question about graphics cards.

for starters, u could look under devices if u have it or call customer service!

Are you talking about graphics you have or are going to buy.
If you have it, try below.

For nVidia 8xxx series:
8800m xxx are GDDR3
8700m GT is GDDR 3
8600m GT can be either. A list of 8600m GT GDDR3 laptops.
8600m GS I believe is generally GDDR3, but still performs under a 8600m GT DDR2
8400m Gx can be either, but again, performs under 8600 xx series
For nVidia 9xxx series:
none currently are GDDR3 (released discrete cards are 9500m GS and 9300m GS)
Hope this helped. -
what about ATI
How can you tell..
