    Hiya everyone..

Just got my new laptop and have bought several games to try out (Metro 2033, Crysis, Crysis Warhead and Batman Arkham Asylum so far...)

Im fairly new to high end gaming and having looked at many posts and threads on NBR, I see many of you run software to benchmark the performance of your systems - thing is, I havent got the 1st clue on where I should start to be able to do my own tests.

I would like to get into this (just because I want to know how well my new system performs) and be able to do future testing so any advice on how to go about getting started would be great.

From what I can tell, I need to get software downloaded to do this (CPUz GPUz, 3D Vantage etc but where from? how do I use them etc?

Thanks in advance from a newbie! :D

(anyone got any idea what kind of results i can expect from the below system??)

You can use my most recent benchmark on the 5730 GPU. Follow the link in my signature.

Many people love to post pictures, but I find those usally only helps to read the fps (frames per second) on the top right, an overall waste. All the software needed (3dmark, vantage, etc.) can be downloaded free, just google their names.

I hope this is what you're looking for.

I think the free version of vantage allows for only 1 run.

One of the easiest ways to benchmark performance is to use the built in benchmarks included in some games or to download the demo / benchmarks they have.

think they are all compatable with windows 7
as mentioned vantage can only be run once and then you have to purchase it.

Yeah, thats my understanding of vantage too, but, as a novice, do i really need to run it more than once ? ( im not planning on o/c ing anything and not gonna change any hardware in the near future....surely my vantage would remain the same huh? - is there much point in "buying" it? - how much is it anyways lol :D

3dmark06 used to be raved about but now people frown and say should use vantage. also there is a new version coming out soon so vantage should drop in price. i only use it once in a while but its always good to compare when youve updated graphics drivers.
