I just bought a gateway 7805u fx and it has a geforce 9800gts with 1 gb, I ran 3dmark and got 8700ish and I hear people getting 9400 andup with overclocking so I would like to know how to overclock and whats to high.
EDIT: is there a risk of any kind?
EDIT 2: Why is there no "fan" tab in rivatuner.
EDIT: Is there any way of telling if Im going overboard?

thanks for the half assed response.

download RivaTuner, that's what I use to overclock.
also, there's the nVidia Tuning software that can do that too, but for some strange reason I like the first one more -
Lol. With my Sager np8660 I was able to overclock mine to 9900+ score and still be stable. But I had to bios overclock it because no software would allow my laptop to do so. Please search, there are a lot of information on this forum and or internet that will safely guide you on how to do so via software or bios. Thats how we all learn to do so.

ROFLMAO best response ever!

that was pretty funny

It was a way of saying, the information is out there, you just gotta search for it.
-
awesome! bookmarked!

Dont see any point in OC'ing it when you already have a 9800M series GPU...
-
As long as you can play your game fine, what is the point? Its not like you bought this expensive machine just to see the numbers that it gives after benchmarks (Although its important to make sure everything is working correctly).
-
that better?
-
Or your laptop no longer functions and you have to buy a new one.
-
or that, Have fun!
How do you overclock?
