I am moving from a desktop with a 7900 GTO (pretty much a 7900 GTX downclocked). So I was wondering how much of a performance hit I would see.
Thanks in advance.![]()

the 7900 is considered high-end (256-bit mem interface)
the 9600m is considered mid-range (128-bit)
7900 GTO > 9600M ... by about 20-30% or more... especially gaming at high resolutions.
a more comparable card is at least a 7950GTX or a step up with 9700M GTS (with 256-bit mem interface). -
your GTO is still better mate.

Yeah the GTO is a 256bit interface so it is better The performance hit will be noticeable, but it's not as if the 9600M GT is a horrible GPU either lol
Your eyes shouldn't bleed THAT bad

Thanks for the answer guys. I knew it would be a hit but I wasn't sure how much. Still seems like it will be ok for me.

dont underestimate your GTO, i once had one, and it OCed like a freak!
How does a 9600m GT compare to a 7900 GTO?
