    gta4 requires a hefty 16gb... but explain how i got to 40% download complete after 2gb.

    ??? i have no idea - maybe it downloads a setup exe and when that is run the rest of the game is downloaded

    this has happened with other games too .. i have noooo idea , im not complaining i mean i downloaded 2gb in half an hour lol

    Steam has a retarded download meter. Every time my games would update its never accurate.

    Not accurate, but often it uses files common to Steam and that accounts for the download. That may be a part of it.

    how many GB has it done so far? 2GB @ 30mins makes me think that it could take 4hours to download the whole thing if you get a constant 6.4mb per second

    ahh i know !! its downloaded the installer
    grrr i have to join some rockstar social club to install lol
    also i reckon i was downloading faster than that , because here at my university we have incredibly fast internet

    Actually at 6.4MB/s You should be able to download the entire 16GB game in 41 minutes, and 36 seconds give or take a minute. But considering the steam files are compressed, it's probebly more like 13GB, so 30 minutes at that rate sounds right. That must be one large university for them to be able to afford an OC3 line..

    I went to a fairly small university of 6,000 on campus and we had an OC3 line, so it's not just big schools that have fast internet.
