Im thinking of buying this since its only 7.50 USD on steam but I just wanted to hear other people's opinions about the game. I heard many good things about it but will I enjoy it? I like pretty much every kinds of game except for games like Tetris :p I love open world games and games where you can just do so many things. Is this game an open world? If its not, how linear is it?

Best $7.50 you'll spend. It's better than any of the Batman movies/cartoons and one of the few games that was written so well. It runs like a dream, so smooth and fast. And probably the only game I can think of where UE3 was actually done right.

It is one of my favorites, there is nothing that even comes close to the pure perfection that is BAA combat. I too was skeptical of the hype, but I bought it @ $25 and I still feel it's one of my better purchases on Steam. This game definitely deserved GOTY and I can't wait for the sequel.

:D you guys helped me make up my mind. After resisting the temptation of the steam holiday sales, this is my first game to buy during the sales :D

It's not really a sandbox type of game. There's an enclosed world you can explore, so you can visit different places at different times to find little trophies and solve these challenges you can unlock. But to actually progress you have to do things in a linear fashion. However, I still had a great time playing the game. I actually went through my first time and got 100% completion on Normal difficulty, then went through to beat the storyline again on Hard difficulty. And if you grow tired of the story mode, there are challenge maps where you can practice the predator and combat portions of the game.

Speaking of combat, it can be easy to pick up (just mash X or Mouse 1), but difficult to master. What I mean is that you have to learn the "rhythm" of the combat in order to string chains and combos together. When you do, it looks and feels fluid and amazing. Definitely use those challenge maps to help you practice with chain attacks. You'll get addicted to the high scoring aspect of them.

I still have to go back and replay Batman AA. I never made it really far. It was ok to me. Not as groundbreaking as people made it out to be. Bosses were ridiculous. I like stealth like games, but this game relies too much on precise movements. Do it slightly wrong and you botch up the whole mission. I hate it like that.

I played the demo on OnLive on my netbook :D I didn't find it that amazing but it was good. Unfortunately, I didn't like it enough to buy it after that so...

    Anyway, enjoy the game!

I bought it just because of the hype, the high rating, and especially because of the graphics and use of PhysX. I really want to see what my new laptop can do with the i5 460m and Nvidia GTX 460m. So far the most demanding game to put my system to the test with maxed out graphics settings is Battlefield Bad Company 2. It's still very playable at an average 30 fps. All my other games run at very high framerates but I lock it at 60 with vsync. I hear Batman isn't very taxing on systems, but I just want to observe PhysX in action. I'll play the game through once with Physx on and then without it. If anything I'll still have a graphics showcase to show off to my buddies.

I liked it, esp the Scarecrow stuff.

I have the non GOTY edition, so dont have the few extras it comes with.

so the one I just bought from the steam sale is the, GOTY edition? lol I don't know this is the first time I bought so much games from steam. I kinda regret getting Battlefield 2 though, I just can't seem to play it after playing Bad company, seems like a huge downgrade. And I still have to touch Alpha Protocol, Mass Effect 2 and I no longer even play MW2 when I just got it after Thanksgiving. Batman hmm don't know if it'll pull my away from my favorite BFBC2. I'm giving it all my time right now.

Its one of the most engaging and entertaining adventures i ever played.
Its worth every buck, plus if you're a fan of the caped dark knight you cant ask for a better experience.
The unreal engine does his job perfectly with his dark atmosphere and gritty look, the asylum complex is biiiig and the boss fights are epic. Sometimes going from an area to another to step up into the next fight makes you feel that its alot of games in one.
Its a taxing game tho, like when mafia II runs whit physx enabled.

    Blasphemy!!!

While BC2 does have quite a list of improvements, it can't hold a candle to BF2 for maps or large scale warfare. Have you even tried a 64 person map like Road to Jalalabad? Or Strike at Karkand? BC2 is just another video game compared to the epic battles found in BF2.

While I'm not a fan of non-manga comics in general, Batman would be my favorite of the lot. Despite that, Arkham Asylum is a fantastic game. It blends action and stealth just about perfectly. The upcoming sequel, Arkham City, looks like it will had a healthy dose of exploration to the mix.

One possible downside, which isn't that much of a problem, is that some people use the stealth kills (x-ray visions) too much as they are overpowered. But hey, I like those stealth kills.

Oh okay thanks for this, I only played the game for like 10 minutes, and I think only single player. Problem is I can't map the keys how I want since I'm pretty limited using the Nostromo N52te speed pad. The only keyboard I have is on my laptop and I don't like using it for gaming at all. Anyway, I didn't like Bad Company 2 also the first time I played, so hopefully when I learn BF2, I'll have a better experience. As far as Batman, I'm already liking it.
