How good is this card? When paired with Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7400 (4MB Cache/2.16GHz/667MHz FSB and 2gb of 667mhz ram can it run almost any games out there today?

probably not at more that low settings...you should at least consider a 7400/X1400 for light to medium gaming.

    i personally would recommend a X1600 or 7600

argh would it be possible to have a notebook with either of those cards for $1500-1700 shipped? Something with a 14" or 15" screen?

The CPU is just fine but you will probably encounter a bottleneck with that card on newer generation games with resolution and graphics options at anything but lower settings. Check out Chaz's thread HERE and you'll find that the GF Go 7300 is considered a low end video card. Sorry, I hope I didn't rain on your parade.

fill out the FAQs and there are plenty of people who can help you on this. i know hp has a couple of good configs of the nc8430 for $1500-$1700...and there are probably a few other laptops out there that would be just as good.

Compal and Asus both have lappy's that would fit your bill. Try ibuypower.com, powernotebook.com, and asus.com. The Asus website has a link to aftermarket sales that lists at least 20 sites to get Asus products.

oh, you guys are way too hard on the 7300. You can even run oblivian on one with low settings. Most moderate and all lower-graphics game will run without a problem on one.

    :(
It's not good enough for the present games.
7300 is not card for gamers
    you need at least X1400

Hell you can get a E1705 with a Core 2 Duo and a Geforce 7900GS for that amount shipped, and that WILL run just about any game on high settings. There are many other 15'4 and 17 inch laptops with powerful discrete GPUs at reasonable prices. The problem is, if you REALLY need something as small as a 14 inch laptop you'll be hard pressed to get good gaming performance. So which is more important to you, portability or gaming?

I had no idea I could get a e1705 for that price with the graphics card. The screen was just because I thought it would be cheaper.

You can get portability and gaming with the Compal HGL-30 which is a 14.1". Very easy to find resellers who can configure it with Core Duo 2ghz, 2gb ram, Nvidia Go 7600 for $1500-1700. No it won't be top-end gaming like an E1705 but a 7600 is still a solid gaming card

if the x1400 is better than why does it cost less when you customize it on dell vs the 7300?

more people will be all "wow it costs more, must be the best", so they get it, making dell get a bigger profit then they should off it.

1500 including tax with C2D, no

1500 excluding tax, yes there are notebooks with x1600 for that amount

lowest i've seen with an x1600 is 1399.99 at futureshop with an AMD processor (not including tax)

what? no way. i live in the U.K and ive seen cheaper notebooks then that IN the U.S.

check this out. powernotebooks.com. best you can get. take my word for it. and look at these...ok. this HEL 80 uses the go 7600. which is practically the SAME as a x1600. and please everyone. dont go all fanbase on me. im not just ranting. i could direct you to aobut 10 places and threads on here which will tell you that these two GPU's are exactly the same in terms of overall performance. REAL world benchmarks.

im not goign to go tell you anymore. but if you are looking for a 15.4" notebook in terms of performance, upgradibility and portability. the compal HEL 80 is one of the best.

but overall. yes, you can easily find a core 2 duo with an x1600. here ya go. first search. and if you think sager is rubbish. cos talk to CHAZ!!
    http://www.sagernotebook.com/pages/...e=5750&SubType=C&hdid=40001196&ramid=80001214

add andother 512mb memory, adn a bigger ahrdrive and you still dont hit $1500

though mind you...one of the reasons this one is more expensive is becasue its a 17"

ok...make your own judgments from that now! and you can find aplenty by the way!

Depending on the games, you could just go with an E1505 with X1400 (which costs less than 7300)... if you don't need to play the latest and greatest games really, then that's for you. The HGL30 from powernotebooks.com can be 1490 dollars with 100 gb harddrive, 7600 gfx card, 1 gb ram, windows xp home, and a wireless card.

i forgot to mention 1500 CND

    i'm from canada

EDIT: i'm assuming he would want at least 1gb of ram or else it wouldn't do much good having an x1600 and also a dvd writer. In addition, he also wanted a 14.1 inch or 15.4 inch notebook. the sager is 17 inch, try finding a x1600 in a 15.4 inch, it's harder and sometimes pricer. and i also said that no, you can't after you factor in tax, which in canada is 13%

ahh, ok in that case...its a whoooooole diffrent story. although im quite sure ive seen plenty of asus and compals under the 1500 mark. and yes. an x1600 is kinda without a second leg without over 1gb of memory...although, its teh use fo the notebook dosnt neccessarily involve gaming. you should be fine. but since you seem to out an emphasis on the GPU, im assuming you want to fire up a game aswell?

    you americans have it good

all the laptop companies seem to think all canadians are eskimos/indians thus they give us bad warrenty, high prices, less value, and notebook configuration

Try living in Ireland. Impossible to get a gaming laptop for decent price. You need at least 1,200 to even get something like a basic 7400.

hahahaha! try it here with 17.5% vat.....plus u gotta pay like......200 odd quid for a 2 year warranty!

we SERIOUSLY have it as one of THE worst here in the U.K..in pretty much EVERYTHING to do with money!! AND THE STUFF KEEPS GOING UP!!! how about this: £1.20 for a single far on the tube. which equates to: 2.25170 USD and 1.77801 EUR. that will only get you past ONE zone....aaaaaaaaand only at offpeak times!! (sorry to complain so much....buuuut..gotta be done!!)

as for gaming rigs! check out ROCKDIRECT. you need at least £1000 for soemthign decent! **** economics! i suppose games are coming along so fast that even the go 7600 and x1600 are gonna start lagging behind soon! wonder whats coming in next for the 15.4" segement? i mean...17" have no probs..cooling is not as big an issue...but the smaller? wonder what? any ideas?

A fully powered 7600 may offer similar performance to an X1600, but the Go 7600 in the HEL80 is underclocked by a fairly significant amount. The Asus S96J may be a better choice if gaming is a priority.

ahhh...thats why. i jsut remembered that upon nearly buying the european for of the hel80 (zepto) i read that teh go7600 was clocked at 375mhz! which kinda annoyed em...since in their OTHER models...the same card was OVERCLOCKED to 450mhz!!!!

since then...i kinda of prefered the x1600...seemed more soild somehow! im still going with ati now...but more int eh league of the X1800 :D
