on a notebook it is impossible to install a new one, but on a pc it is easy you just get the drivers online and put the new card in the old card's slot

I think he means software/drive install.

It is not hard at all. Install the drivers by clicking next a few times and reboot and you are done. Finding the best drive is the hard part.

You can run into trouble sometimes. If you do post again and someone will help you.

It's not imposssible.. There are a few notebooks that can be upgraded, but this kind of upgrade is very limited in scope. If you are talking about the rig in your sig, then it's just as chesie said..

also if it is the desktop in your sig make sure there is room for whatever card you get. Cases from companies like dell, hp, and gateway tend to sometimes be too small for certain things.

You won't find much. They really don't make any performance low-profile cards. Doesn't even look like you have the option of a riser. Check www.newegg.com, they tend to have the best selection and proper specs of parts out there. Best that it looks like you'll find is something like a 7300GS. This thread should also probably be in the Desktop Hardware section, too...

If you really want to do some modding then buy a new chasis (mid- to full tower). Then move all the components to the new case. That way you will have room for that new video card and have more room for everything to "breathe".

May I ask why you are asking this in a notebook forum?

No idea. But if you have some experiences dealing with the internals of your desktop, installing a graphic card should be easy.

He is asking about his Dell C521. It's a slimline so it is kinda hard to get normal height cards in. Btw, the dell is really underpower with only 280W of power, a 8500GT might fit the power requirements but maybe not the chassis.
