    Hi there:

When i play COD4, my CPu sometimes throttles down causing great graphic lag in the game (4-10 fps). The strange thing is that my temperatures aren't that bad at all (like 62 for cpu and 72 for gpu when gaming, which i consider very good)

Why might this throtlle thing be going on? How can i disable it?

Download and install RightMark CPU clock utility, although some of us on the forum use it for undervolting there are a few settings that can be adjusted which directly affect your CPU's throttling abilities.

As well, make sure that your CPU temps are being read accurately - try a few different tools.
I found that CoreTemp, HWMonitor, and RMClock all read my CPU temp 15 degrees below actual; it was RealTemp that worked for me.

As for disabling thermal protection, it's possible but doing so could severely damage your laptop's CPU. Therefore, we don't recommend it.

I use RMClock for undervolting and when this happens (the 4-10 fps thing) the monitoring tool clearly shows the CPU throttling down itself.

Its very weird though... cuz when running ORTHOS my CPU gets even hotter and it doesn't throttle...

Look at your ACPI Thermal Zone temps (TZ) when your gaming.

You should be able to see them using HWMonitor.

jkleet, what you're probably experencing is due to the heat/dissipation system not workig as it should.
I believe that your temperatures go above 81C and then throttling begins?

this is solved by reapplying thermal paste on the CPU...
    Give it a try...
Else, get the motherboard replaced, or the heatsink/fan.

Cmon guys... i really need to get out of this issue. Temperatures are really not worth worrying at all (i am maxing at 73 cpu 78 gpu which is pretty OK for an XPS1330)

    Anyone?
