I've been looking to get back into RTS games and SC2 is the perfect chance. I love RTS games, but the ones that appeal to me the most are good ones with good AI. For example, I loved Age of Empires 2 because it's AI was pretty good. I loved Supcom, but not as much since its AI sucked. With a good AI, even if a lot of people stop playing the game online, you can always play offline with your friends against the computer.

That said, how is Starcraft 2's AI?

Does it do stuff like push you back and then move their bases up or turtle or stuff like that?

oh and if you guys can throw in a brief review on the multiplayer as well, that'd be great thanks!

its fantastic, its pretty smart about not throwing itself into winless base defense and such. Knows to blow up that rock and go behind if it needs to. All depends on which level you choose tho. Medium's pretty stupid, Hard is okay. Havent tried any very hards yet, and supposedly the Insane actively cheats lol.

    Edit:

They expand like crazy, even when your killing them a worker will get lose and start rebuilding elsewhere. By the end if you havent been harassing and have been turtling you'll have to hunt down all their little expansions.

very hard, and insane are smart ai.

theyll have a scout drone the entire battle, constantly scouting to see what ur going to do and scouting their side to make sure ur not trying something.

insane will actually pull out whatever is the best strat against u as fast as possible.

and again, they are scouting, so they know exactly what to bring before u even have enough to defend.

in conclusion, its smart and insane def cheats. i watched a replay, and from the very beginning, all drones at same time, went to different minerals

Very easy and easy are quite stupid. Normal's a bit easy and hard's just fine for beginners looking for a small challenge.

Insane AIs are about as smart as Very Hard but they get extra resources per trip

Insane really isn't that smart. The only thing that makes it challenging is that it actually does cheat and retrieves minerals at a higher than normal rate. For example the insane Protoss CPU will go 1 gate fast robo into colossi like... all the time. It'll make one colossi and see if it gets "countered" then switch to zealot immortal.
