m11x, why you are not considering it? I think it is one hell of a machine for mobile gamers

I will second this! Incredible little powerhouse of a machine
If you camp the twitter coupon releases, people have been getting a refurb i5 (R3's) for 750-850$ too through the outlet (i5 has almost identical power as i7 since they're both underclocked duo-cores FYI).
-
just add an ssd (aftermarket) and i7, without coupon it should be total 1400 (including aftermarket), with a coupon it will be even cheaper
i7 + 2GB 540m (crazy overclocking ability) + ssd / 11 inch 4.5lb, are you kidding me? -
Cost, screen size. 11" screen is too small, prefer 13", and weight and size are like a 13" without the benefit of a larger screen. I owned an R1 for a while, it was ok, just the crappy and small screen drove me nuts. Dell would be stupid not to consider AMD, especially Trinity as an M11x option with just the integrated GPU. I'd rather see at minimum a 12.1", but 13" would be better.
edit: OMG, they have an M11x R1 with SU7300 for $909 at the outlet... ??? Oh my. What are they thinking? -
Ya the 11" is so small. You'd need to get a stand-alone monitor, at which point you're better off just getting a desktop.
-
Or a monitor.

Still waiting on a 7690M XT/NVIDIA 6xx (555m replacement) Samsung Chronos 15.6 inch. Itd be so great. a 15.6 inch screen with a super thin case and bezel, as well as a 1600x900 resolution which is still just fine for the size but requires less power to game at native res if you know what I mean. One day... Although for my next machine Im getting a 13 inch I think (4 years). By then the new m11x could beat the current M18x or m18x r2, and anyone can have a gaming MBP 13 inch with a 1080p display lol
-
Ya but then you need the monitor to play games. Kinda defeats the purpose of being a gaming laptop, unless you only want it for taking notes at school. At which point, you might as well get a cheap netbook and a desktop for home.

Yeah... adding a monitor defeats the purpose IMO. -
Right, but originally he said so why not just get a desktop... I just countered with a monitor instead. Although for $1000+ you can get a darn nice gaming capable desktp + decent netbook/compact notebook.

I'm surpised that DV6T is not really meant for gaming. I'm using it with Radeon 6770 (it's my very first laptop) and I'm already blown away with the graphics when playing Skyrim and Battlefield.
-
yeah I also think 6770m is a nice average GPU which will handle BF3 at high with 720p (without AA), that is good enough for a 14-15" lappy
BUT I would prefer Force 16F2, because I am a desktop replacement guy
-
It is meant for gaming. It's perfectly great for 720p (or 1366x768) gaming. And still usable at 1080p if you sacrifice some detail.
But if you want high detail 1080p gaming or some future-proof for gaming, then a more powerful GPU is needed. -

So.. i bought an M18X.. I am currently using a rolling Suitecase for a case..
You know.. the 12lb machine isnt so bad.. but damn.. that 330w power BRICK could use some lightening up.. HA!
-
U serious bro? My overclocked 6990M runs BF3 at 50-60 FPS with textures at high, most medium and effects on low, with no AA/AF or FXAA or HBAO/SSAO.

You're probably running at 1080p though
darxide is getting those numbers on a 6630m at much lower resolution -
I play all the COD and Modern Warfare games on default settings on my Thinkpad even Multilplayer no issues, only game I have issues with is Battlefield 3.
How is this for a gaming laptop?
