Hey all,
I kind'a did the reverse and bought crysis:warhead first. While I loved it I finished it in roughly 3 hours give or take. I loved the gameplay, the graphics (of course) and the controls.
Is the first Crysis longer? If so about how long did it take you to finish the first run? If it's the same length I might pass, but if it's a good bit longer i'm considering purchasing the first.
Finally a game that gives my desktop a run for its money, man everything looked awesome!
Either way I plan on replaying this one a few more times, will try hard this time around as normal was kind'a a learning process. Love the suit, so many ways to sneak up on the bad guys![]()

When I played Crysis, I played it at normal difficulty and I completed it in 6 hours or maybe a bit less but I did spend a lot of time staring at trees and the water
(despite having a crappy HD2600)
I havent played warhead yet as I am waiting for new laptop before I do give it a try... its been gathering dust -

Depends on how you play the game...I'm the slow methodical type who leaves no enemy standing and no stone unturned, so it took a while for me. The difficulty setting also makes a difference - if you play on delta, you can't run and gun and you'll spend most of your time sneaking around (think Sam Fisher with a more wicked suit and big guns).
-
3 hours
I thought this game is lengthy.
Now thinking whether to buy or no. -
I guess I'm like Delta_CT as well. I played it on a harder difficulty at first, and played the game stealthy, killing everyone, doing everything, exploring everywhere and just having fun with the physics and blowing stuff up rather than going strait for the mission objectives. I think it took me 22 hours to beat it the first time. I have beat it numerous other times as well playing it in completely different ways every time, and I can't see how anyone can beat it in less than 6 hours, it's pretty lengthy, even if you just run through it all. I also have a strong doubt that you beat warhead in 3 hours, even running through all the levels in speed mode and going strait for the objectives would probably take more than 4 hours. Doesn't look like you actually spent the time to enjoy any part of it.. But yea, the first is ALOT longer than the second, and imo ALOT better, the second put too much emphasis on just mindless shooting everything that moves.
Also don't forget that CryMod.com has hundreds and hundreds of single player levels, and even multiple levels put together with their own storyline and what not all for download. Although their download servers are kind of slow. -
I never knew such a website exists.
Thanks -
3 hours!? It's short, but not that short. Especially playing through it the first time. Is it even possible to make it through the game in 3 hours for one of those speed gamers?
I think the first one took me about 20 hours. I enjoyed taking different approaches, and sometimes replayed areas where I knew I could have done better. But even at best it probably would have taken me 12-14 hours.
For Warhead, it took me less time, like 12 hours or so, but I was more determined to get through it, and since I was familiar with the game and gameplay, I didn't mess around with all the different stuff. At best with that game would take me 8-9 hours. -
If you dont mind me asking, how did you just wander around blowing things up?
I did that for a while but I could never find sufficient ammo to let me blow things that many things up -
About 5 minutes, as that's the amount of time it takes for Crysis to crash on me =(
Warhead's a different story though, just starting that now. -
You got a 9800m GS and Crysis crashes on you??? that's almost as good as my card and i can play all high settings...
-
Driver issue, and I can't be bothered to roll back since I'm playing Warhead now.
-
I took 2 weeks. playing for 1 hour every day and killing everything in my way and taking my time to explore the areas.
-
war head took me like 3 days like 1-2 hours each day i did a mix of run and gun and explore
-
It depends on your computer performance and in-game settings.
Framerates will dictate how long Crysis takes to complete. -
On topic, I am planning to replay Crysis once my thesis is done...on a harder setting and to try some different approaches. For example, I drove pretty fast through the tank level, doing more of running and dodging than gunning. I'd definitely like to go back and do that one again, maybe with hopping out and sneaking around like a member of an AT squad. -

I thought crysis was quite a bit longer and harder than warhead, mainly thanks to the alien weightlessness rubbish. Warhead took just a couple of days to complete and didn't hurry at all.
-
yep, the alien habitat thingy where we have to float and shoot aliens made me lose my patience.

There are a lot of nice Crysis maps that greatly extend the replayability of the game if you ask me. One custom level I recommend is "Airfield", very nicely done custom map.
I do wish both games were longer, especially Warhead.
I feel that the sad trend is now to make single player campaigns shorter and instead focus on the multiplayer. I guess I am one of the old fashioned people that does not play multiplayer period (except on a console splitscreen with others) and 99% spends playing single player games. -
-
I would play multiplayer, but with a 850ms ping, it is impossible for me.

I'm largely a singleplayer gamer, too.
That said, Crysis should take between 4-6 hours if you're leisurely to get to the alien ship, at which point the fun part of the game is over.
No, really, it's over. Reconcile that and put down the game, because the next couple hours of gameplay aren't worth the heartache and tears. -
I am Indian and if I were fighting Indian soldiers in the game, I don't care if they speak in a heavy Indian accent, as long as they don't say something like "Thank you, come again!" or "Would you like a squishee?" ala a stereotypical Indian convenience store clerk like Apu from The Simpsons, I'm fine with it. There was nothing of that sort with the Korean soldiers in Crysis.
Its very interesting in Metal Gear Solid 2, the game takes place in New York and the Russian soldiers spoke English in a Russian accent. Whereas in Metal Gear Solid 3 which took place in Russia, the Russian soldiers spoke in an American accent. Quite funny.
---------------------------------------------------------
To get back on topic, indeed the alien portion of the game was quite a let-down vs fighting the Korean soldiers. But it seems in the sequel when it comes out, that is all you will be doing so I hope they really spruce that up. -
Also upping the difficulty should make it much harder for me I think. -

In the end, the user that waits to buy the three crysis games (yes, I thought this was a trilogy, or at least better be) will get a great bargain when they sell the "Platinum" or "Gold" or "Trilogy" edition for $30 or $40 in a year or so. All three games combined will probably total 30-40 hrs of gameplay.
I'm anxious when the next Crysis will be out. Considering the ending of Warhead there darn well better be another game. -

I am also very anxiously waiting for the sequel to Crysis.
I have a very strong feeling that it will use CryEngine 3 and be multiplatform for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. I hope that if that is the case, that the PC version will not be scaled back and dumbed down and "consolised" like F.E.A.R 2 was vs F.E.A.R 1.
Crysis was something that made me proud to be a PC gamer, that it could never be replicated on consoles, at least not as well. -
Hi guys ,i think crysis is my favorite pc game still to this date even if it is 2 years old.It blows everything even xbox and ps3 out the water,I have played it since it came out, what the outher guy said about tweaks and add ons is what helps its shelf life.
I would reccomend a mod called advanced ai it makes it harder than delta, and the ai act better flanking and using smoke to advance on you.Thay also seek you when withdraw.I also use th master config 1.3 which is fantastic and with good fps.Check it out guys i think it is on the cry mod page -
I used to do a fair bit of multiplayer, but it was because I played with my buddies. Having to deal with a bunch of 13 year old haxors and voice chat spammers is pretty much why I quit CS.
Stalker seems like a game that does a pretty good job of getting the accents correct, at least from the vids that I've seen (it's on my list of games to play) and on my limited experience with Russian people. Then again, the devs are Russian...
Heh, if Crysis 2 comes out in its full glory, it will be time to get a new system. I spent about $500 upgrading my system to play Crysis nicely -

I am just waiting for Crysis with CryEngine 3...

Too short.
I finished it up the other day, and I have to say "it left me screaming for me" as the Gamespot review put it. It took me a few days. Don't have much schoolwork now, as I am getting to the end, so Crysis took over my time. -
I dont see how people can rush through a game that fast...
With Crysis I stand around after I killed everybody and have fun ramming trees and observing the insane water graphics and textures
Crysis took me about 30-40 Hours, but concidering the hours spend on one previous game save to have fun and then deleting the quicksave... 60-80
Crysis Warhead: 20-30 Hours, with the fun fooling around about 30-40 -
Just updated engine, higher graphics standards and settings, more tweaks, console support and pretty much nothing MAJOR
It will mainly be for console releases at first and then Crysis 2 or Crysis: **** (Its a trilogy by the way, I dont know if Crysis Wars is part of it...)
How long is Crysis?
