I just installed it and the latest tweakforce drivers (163.44 mobile), and I'm running a stock Asus G1S, but it seems like it won't run for some reason. How long does it take to open up?

Hm..have you defragged your HD? and do all of those useless temporary file cleaner things to get things better and try again.

The initial load takes a few seconds once you start the game for the first time during your play session. But once it gets loaded, say if you want to load a saved game or something after that to revive yourself, those loads go much quicker.

The very first load of the day just takes longer I guess to get everything up in memory. It's pretty normal and I got an 8800GTS and 4gbs RAM here.

Something is wrong clearly, it shouldn't take minutes for it to load. It never loads for me, it just gives me that rectangle. I'm going to try to reinstall it, and then if that doesn't work I'm going to go to the support site.

On my T61, it takes about 45-60 seconds average to load a level. On my desktop, between 30-45. The initial game load is about 10-20 seconds both places. Try the -nointro command line switch, for one, that'll improve initial load times. And it is very possible that you need to defragment, even if you've only had the computer a day, especially if you've uninstalled/installed a lot of programs.

On a side note: Bob, you seem to have the same problem that me and a lot of other people have with long load times - where it takes several minutes (anywhere from 2-5) to load up a level (when everyone else loads a saved game or new level in like 30-40 seconds). It has to do with video card drivers (almost everybody who has it has a 79XX series card), and the game stops responding and the load screen freezes for several minutes. We're hoping for a fix soon... :(

    Anyway, to the OP:

Do you have the Retail or Steam version of the game? Either way, you might try reinstalling. You should also search through the Bioshock tech support forums - I remember seeing some posts about the game not opening up at all. Otherwise I don't know what to tell you - the game is riddled with bugs at the moment. :(
