Hmm... I'm in the thousands for sure.
When I was a kid I gamed more. Thinking of only PS1 I would say minium 400 hours. Plus PC games when I was young and genesis and nintendo at my friends hours, another 500. Flash games 100 hours. Newer PC games in the last few years, 500 hours. Xbox360 150 hours, PS3 50 hours. PS2 400 hours , PSP 200 hours.
Grand total 2300 hours. I am guessing this is way low since it is hard to really calculate. I know some people have played wow for 1000 hours +.
EDIT:
Now that I think about it , it is probably at least triple that when i factor in binge gaming so I would say 7000 hour min ......

I would say tens of thousands :/ I know from looking at xfire alone that I have played like 8000 since 2004, and half of that being WoW. Add to that the years of PC gaming before that point, and the time spent on consoles and...yeah...
I definitely don't spend as much time these days playing games though. I can remember spending an entire weekend playing RPGs back in the day, but now it's rare that a game can suck me in for more than a few hours at a time. -
I gotta say Tens of Thousands. I have over 1100 hours played in MW2 Multi ALONE. Nevermind how many times i've played and replayed all the doom games since the first one came out in 95, HL2, Crysis, etc... the list goes on. If were including consoles are well, jeez I used to have tournaments playing the original tekken on PS1 nevermind the tekken's that followed lol. Plus all the GTA's before San Andreas.
-
Well I got my nintendo when I was 2 and have been gaming since. Lets say an average of 2 hours/day (obviously had some 12 hours gaming sessions and some no gaming days) that would equal about 16000 hours.
Not nearly enough imo...too much time wasted doing rediculous things like working, going to school and dating. -
Far too much
WoW alone with all my characters combined is 2/3 of a year.
I'd say 1.5 years max over the course of my life (when I began playing at 14 years old to 28).
Edit:
1 year = 8 765.81277 hours
So...something like 13,000+ hours.
Edit 2:
Actually forgot to include the Heroes: Might & Magic, Phantasy Star and Final Fantasy series, which would push it to 2 years, so 17,000 hours+ -
Over 9000
. If i were to take a guess, i'd say somewhere between 10 000 and 20 000
-
I really don't even want to think about it, not even a little bit. Typing /played in WoW used to depress the hell out of me.
-
Way... tooo... much.
At least 35 years x 2 hrs/day using GamingACU's math, that's like over 25000 hours. Wow. Probably that much in dollars spent on games too. -
-
Over my lifetime? Probably 10,000 hours or so. I really can't tell you.
-
Wow, now that I think about it A LOT.
Just thinking of Dota alone, I've played thousand of games.
I remember that I would often save replays of any game where I did well, and ended up having over 2k replays saved from the old versions.
Then I bought a new laptop and accumulated another 2k + replays up to our current version. And that's only the games where I did good or saw something unusually awesome.
An average Dota game can go from half an hour to an hour so... yea, that's at least 8k hours of one game alone.
I started gaming when I was 6 and the original Nintendo was brand new and Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt was the sh*t.
From then on I owned pretty much every major Console to come out. Genesis, Ps1, N64, Ps2, Xbox, Xbox 360 (which I barely play, haven't touched it in two months now) and of course PC.
Once I got into gaming on my laptop (mostly due to Oblivion being so mindblowingly awesome) I lost my passion for console gaming and started enjoying multiplayer games like Counter Strike and Warcraft 3.
Now I spend much less time gaming per se, but the time that I do spend gaming is MUCH more high quality overall than it used to be. By this I mean that I usually game on my 120 inch 3d projector image on my wall while using a wireless mouse and keyboard/ wireless xbox360 controller which are all hooked up to my gaming Laptop. This makes all this extremely comfortable and entertaining
So in total I would have to say around 30,000 hours in my lifetime. -
here is a mind bender --- imagine if you were paid $20 US / hour for every hour of gaming. probably could buy a house with all that money... crazy thing is there are some people who spend more hours gaming than acutally working!
also i would cool if any credits / gold in a game could be traded for real money. like in skyrim, you could be like ok ill cash our like 10k gold for 10k us dollars. i hope they make that type of game someday. -
Around 2500 invested in Guild Wars alone...
-
I think I may have a case of ADD or something, because I cannot stay occupied playing one game for an hour. For example I play a game on the xbox... then leave, watch TV for 10 minutes, telling myself I was done with the xbox for today, then get back on it for maybe 20 minutes or so then hop on my computer to play flash game.
But I'd have to put my grand total at 3,000 or less.. -
2 hours max in a day, and it depends if im free or have nothing to do or when its a bad weather/no activities, i do have some activities outside and more social life
-
Maybe 3k? I played SO much gamecube when I was younger... I beat so many games.. I've only recently been playing PC, and have about 300 on steam. I have ~400 on MW2 and about 200 on BO. I also forgot to add that I probably have about a thousand in runescape. Mw3, I have, like, 6. Anyway, 2 or 3 thousand is where I've gone. (I'm not even old enough to drive yet...)

prob around 3500hrs+ since the ps1

4792 hours and 36 minutes over the last 71 months in GW (/age FTW!), can't say i didn't get my money's worth. So let's say around 6000 hours per period of 6 years, there are times when i gamed a little more and a little less. That would make for a total of ~18 000 hours. Started gaming at 6 on the SNES, 24 years old now. My between 10 000 - 20 000 wasn't far off. That averages at 1000 hours per year or 11% of every year spent gaming. Put that way, it looks bad... -
-
My PS3 average is more at $8 per hour of gaming.
With GW2 coming out some time next year, those hours are going to explode. -
Hopefully my gaming hours will also explode next year. I don't plan on working for the next 4 years (going to ride out my GI bill at 12 credit hours/semester) and would like to get into the competitive scene.
I plan on Playing GW 2, Tribes: Ascend, and either DOTA2 or HON (which ever is more popular at that time) and assume at least 1, if not all, will have lots of tournaments and prize money to be had. -
I don't know, nonstop since 1988
Work only slowed me down -

Too much...
40+ Days just from Call of Duty 4. (Which I still play daily.)
~100 days from the Grand Theft Auto series
And countless others
I did think of something neat; Imagine all of the time spent waiting for loading screens.... -
wow alone was like over a year when i last checked my /played.
and there's still my NES days, Sega Genesis, Ps1, PS2, Korean grinding MMO's, guild wars, PC games since the '94.
is it just me that got a bit depressed because of this thread -
playing since 1992! playing 2 hours daily, do the math!
-
Well according to steam and xfire, my recorded hours between the two is 3,672 hours.
All the time i spent before that playing atari, nes, snes, sega genisis, playstation, wii, xbox and pc... my best guess is something in the ballpark of 15,000+ hours.
Thats almost 2 YEARS of playing video games straight through!
Thanks OP for making me realize exactly how much of my life this disease has taken from me. -
Countless..from 1986... How can I count it?? lol..
OH well... with my old C64 was more the time I was waiting to load the game than play it actually... -
A year has 8760 hours so I'm pretty sure I've wasted at least 2 STRAIGHT years on games.
I'm 33 and playing games since '86 (Price of Persia, LHX, Accolade GrandPrix)
wow (in the saddest way possible) -

30,000+, not sure though, probably much more. I know for a fact I have probably 5,000+ in WoW alone.

if you could pick a game where your life became that game, what game would you pick? so i mean its like Avatar where you are literally experiencing the game as it is real life... but you get stuck in the machine so that is your life now. what game would you pick?

Let me see... 365 days a year times 24 times my age, and then take away sleep and work/schooling.... My low guess would be 10,000+ hours, and a high guess would probably be around 20,000. I definitely game too much.
As for what game I would pick to be in, I cannot really decide. There are more than one appealing games I like. -
I don't know how much, but it's less than the time wasted on sleep lol

playing since 1999 until now, even i got more playtime when i'm still a little kid, It's like 16 hours a day or so
but now only like 3-4 hours a day, well what can i say?
-
like 5000 hours, never really thought about it. I wish I could play more but cant find the time to do it. That is about 208 days of gaming jajaja
-
I am sure I played Baldur's Gate 2 for about 1000 hours alone (no kidding), diablo 2 for about another 500 hours, don't even want to guess starcraft, I would say at least 5000 overall, probably way more, but I am note sure... (still not kidding about Baldur's Gate...)

A few thousand, I suppose. A hundred or so into a dozen or so RPG's I really liked, mostly Bioware stuff, and a lot into online shooters.
How many hours do you guess you have played video games over the course of your lifetime?
