Great gpu but these newer games like titanfall and watch dogs are starting to really put this graphics chip to the test :)

Part of the problem is that it was more of a 650 style chip than a 660, the 760M for example was much more powerful.

Just keep dropping resolution and detail to the point that it's no longer bearable. I'd say you'd be lucky to get through this year's games without getting frustrated.

At 720p it should be fine but at 1080p its just too weak even today.

Well I've been gaming at 1080p. Titanfall is playable at medium settings at 1080p...usually getting around 30-40fps. Watch Dogs however I had to take it down to 720p, but I think that may be because it's a new game. I will say that Watch Dogs is a horrible game any way.

Recently bought Kingdoms of Amalor and Mirror's Edge, older games that play smoothly at 1080p. BF4 plays great at 1080p and so did all the crysis games. I don't even think Watch Dogs looks that good, so I don't get it. Any way, for the most part, I'm still enjoying the games, but it'll be interesting as games get more demanding.

I may have no choice to try an egpu set up to upgrade.

If you got a thunderbolt port you can try a GTX 760 via Thunderbolt :)

660M is and always will be; a mid ranged GPU. If you don't play the latest and greatest, a 660M will probably last a couple years. If you bought a laptop with a 660M to play any of the newest shooter, you've already bought the wrong laptop as it will not give you the performance you desire unless you enjoy playing at the lowest resolution/setting, which is no way to play a game whatsoever.
