I, like many of you, am a dedicated PC gamer. I'm addicted to the hardware, so I am thus addicted to using it as my gaming platform. I do own a PS3, but only for playing Blu-Rays (and the kid has a Wii which I don't play unless I am spending time with him).
I work in a department with about 50 other people, half of which are 20-30 year old male gamers. Only problem is, I am the ONLY PC gamer. There is one co-worker who used to be a Counter Strike 1.6 player, but converted to consoles as he never played anything but CS on PC's. I occasionally get into gaming discussions with them, but it's sometimes frustrating as they talk about console exclusives and new motion control gimmicks. One co-worker did just buy a Mac Air (/sigh), so I gifted him an extra copy of The Orange Box I had laying around... in desperate hopes that I could get at least ONE person at work to be friends with on Steam.
Thankfully my best friend and my brothers play some PC games so I don't feel totally alone, but I sure wish there were a few more of us out there in the wild (maybe there are but they just hide in closets!)
So by my calculations, we are outnumbered 30 to 1. What are you guys seeing at work and at school?

Heh. As far as I know, none. Well, I do have one coworker who occasionally plays on his laptop, but nothing nothing Steam related. He actually does the majority of his gaming on a console.
Maybe I'll ask more people, though. -
I have 2 co-workers in my department that are gamers at all, out of several dozen. One only plays on his PS3, the other pretty much only plays WoW.
-
In first year I'd say nearly 70% of my classmates were PC Gamers (WoW), naturally that number dwindles down as you make it through the years, but even then I'm in a field pre-disposed to PCs.
Problem with consoles is their mainstream-ism. You tend to see the same phenomenon with cars, TV shows, music, etc, even religion. Really I sometimes enjoy its obscurity: when you finally do meet that one other person who plays some really awesome game you like that no one's ever heard of, it makes it all the more special. -
Today I found out that the dude that sits next to me plays tf2.... Long story short we're going to get along quite well
-
I only know one other person who is a PC gamer. Both of us have and enjoy playing on our consoles too though. Other than that, everyone is either a strict console gamer or maybe a rare Counter Strike or console emulator layer but that's it.
-
All my friends and co-workers are multi-platform gamers, usually PC and one or more of the consoles.
-
couple classmates and my ...second? cousin. although i play mainly pc games (9 out of 10 times) i dont consider myself a pc gamer. i will gladly hop over to my consoles to play with friends or play console exclusives.
-
My friends all use Steam
-
I'm the only one
I don't know anyone else from my class and I don't speak to them.
-
my friend uses steam, and one of my co-workers. I just found out that my uncles play SC2, so I'll have to join them sometime.
My computer science class is full of PC gamers, but I suspect that most are Mostly Console players... -
At least 4 guys in my work. At least 1 is a regular PC gamer as me, not sure about the ohter 3.
-
5 with me. I can't even count who many plays Xbox 360, more then 15-20 which I just can count now. I've also got Xbox 360 and PS3, I rarly use my PS3 but I use Xbox 360 for party chats.

In my university there are almost NO PC gamers at all :S .... people here are more console oriented than anywhere in the universe I guess ... No offence but I hate consoles ... maybe because I LOVE the keyboard or something

4 with me. We recently started a Diablo 2 playthrough.
-
I don speak to too many ppl in my class n i haven't found any pc gamers... been depressed bout that off late
-
I know (as in more than an acquaintance) 3-4 people who I would consider PC gamers. I know of more, but despite being the most hardcore of all of them, I'm still relatively n00b (only ~10 hrs a week, when I'm not busy, gaming).
-
Only a FEW people in my current freshman high school year. I know couple of kids that only plays WoW and 1 kid that plays only Team Fortress 2 lol Couple of others that I know but none of them are really hardcore steam gamers. Most of these kids own Xbox 360 or PS3.

Hardly anyone is a proper PC gamer at my school. I know one who regularly plays games on his laptop, but unfortunately, he is also a pirate.
Around a third of my school is the console demographic, and the rest are sports/outside people, those types who wear too much makeup, and the sort of people that have lots of friends and are always going to the city to "hang out".
Strangely enough, the console demographic isn't all that popular. You are really looked down upon if you game on any platform at all at my school, PC gaming is just regarded worse than consoles.
And that's why I am a loner and don't talk to people. -
Does it count if I'm a computer tech? Since all those around me are going to be into computers..
At my work 5/6 technicians are gamers.
1 only plays UT2k4, against bots, with low gravity.
1 only plays WoW and Eve
1 plays WoW, Eve, Everquest, and BC2
2 of us are hardcore gamers that enjoy many types of games
There are always at least 2 or 3 people gaming at any point during the day at work. -

I am in a highschool of 2500 kids, so it is hard to know everybody, and I know for fact there are several severe hard core gamers out there in my HS, but all the ones i personally know is my 2nd best friend who has a sweet custom rig with 3x GTX 480, which he uses exclusively for stupid games like Combat Arms, and some other low intensity games. He says he gets over 1000 fps sometimes in CA, which is beleivable as with a GT 240m I used to get up to 200... other than that, I know a couple of low-core wow and starcraft 2 players.
edit: I am also in a digital animation class where I am the only freshman and about 3/4 of the other kids either play games on pc/console, or are hardcore hackers(one of them hacked the teachers computer from one of the computers in the same room and regularely brings his hackintosh to school!), but as they are all older than me and sit too far away from me, we dont connect very much. -

Actually, I forgot to mention the one guy I do know who plays exclusively PC games also has a pretty nice custom rig, i7 930, 12GB DDR3 (yes, for real, ridiculous, I know), and a GTX 480. But his rig recently broke and he doesn't know how to fix it (LOL!). -
There's only one other gamer that I'm aware of where I work (30ish people), and he mainly plays WoW casually. There was another guy, but again just played WoW. Of course it was entertaining when he got burned out and swore off WoW for a couple months, and then went back.
-
i work in a ship and my senior citizen co-workers can kick in DotA and CS. man they are already old but they can still play, with eyeglasses lol
-
basically just my sister.. and then my good friend is simply a Blizzard gamer. SC2 and WoW with me
-
At school, most of the guys at least play video games in one form or another(one guy in my class has a G51 so I'll assume he must game on it lol
). Idk about the girls though
None of which I've talked to seemt o know much if anything.
At work, nearly everyone(male and female) is a partial geek so they play video games, be it console or PC(I think half the store plays WoW lol)
-
Im graduated, and am currently unemployed, havent been looking for a job tbh... so I play games most of the time, the company I get is pretty much the same old, some old friends, some of them have given up due to not having time(girlfriend/job takes too much I guess lol)... gotta get a a job, I have too much time in my hands heh...
-
All my friends play xbocks.
-
I have 2 friends who are PC gamers. Most of my friends prefer the consoles. I have an Xbox 360 but the only games I play on it are sports games. Consoles, to me, are better for sports games.

The people I know tend to only play PC only games (MMOs, RTS, etc.) in their PC and go t oconsole for everything else.
How many of your Co-Workers (or classmates) are PC Gamers
