How much better is the GTX-260M than the GTX-230M & ATI 4650

I'm looking at a bunch of laptops and I want to get the GTX-260M but it isn't offered in many laptop that meet my requirements. A lot of the other options offer the GTX-230M or the ATI 4650

Is there a significant performance difference between these cards?

Would any or all of these cards be able to run games like Mass Effect 2? L4D2? Splinter Cell?

The computers I'm looking at are in the $1000 - $1200 range so they would have 4GB DDR2 and either an i7 processor or a 2.1 quad core.

Yes, the GTX260M is a considerable nice jump in performance, specially at higher resolution.

However, all three of those cards should be able to run the games you listed without much problems.

If you want higher end performance on the cheap side, you might want to take a look at the best buy G60vx for a cheap laptop with a GTX260m. It is underclocked but still performs excellent on games and much better than the HD4670 or 230M

OR! if you want to get an excellent value for your money, get the Asus G51J-A1 or the MSI GT729.

    Great questions!
    I have the same inquiries.
I've been looking at the new 17" Gateway® P-7908u FX Edition, with GTX260, and the new 17" HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition, with GT230.

The GTX 260M is far superior to the GT 230M and the HD 4650.

Lol you and i have been looking at the same laptops.

Right now I'm leaning most heavily towards

    Asus G72GX-RBBX05

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9556125&type=product&id=1218124208054

    G72Gx-RBBX09

    http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9568149&type=product&id=1218125774394

However right now they're both only listed at Bestbuy. I'm thinking about waiting until it gets offered at other websites, and I'm hoping the price will go down a bit, but I have no idea if that will happen and how long. Apparently those two models are exclusive to Bestbuy.
