Whether they are for you or for other people, how much have you spent on those fun little digital entities called video games?
So far I've spent $32 for six games on the Steam sale, all for me =)
In addition, I bought my little sister the new Super Mario Bros for Wii for $40 at my local gaming store, pretty sweet game if you ask me and totally worth it (but in the back of mind all I can think is that I just got six totally awesome games for less than the price of this one)
That gives me a total of $72.
EDIT: I guess I should elaborate. I'm not trying to judge people on how much they buy, or compare them with me. It's just interesting to see how much people are willing to invest into this sector of life/economy. I'm sure we are at record levels of video game consumption and for me it is interesting to see one of my hobbies taking off into these levels. Comparing this to 15, 10, or even 5 years ago, it seems like more and more people are getting into video games, and as a result are buying them for people more often. Just a fun thought, I suppose, but hey, perhaps someday I can do a research paper on video games and the economy...

Well, if you count christmas presents, best part of £200 ($300) as I bought my brother a graphics card for christmas for £85.
-
I spet roughly 60$ and got:
Audiosurf
Half Life
Half Life: Opposing Force
Half Life: Blue Shift
Team Fortress Classic (these 4 in a pack)
Oddworld 1+2
Osmos
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

BF2 complete pack
Torchlight
S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl
Defense Grid: The Awakening
so a total of 14 games. =] -
BF2 Complete for $8
-
Most other years I would have easily spent $100-$200. This year it's tight, but I spent about $21 total on Torchlight ($5), Pacific Storm Pack ($3), Unreal Pack ($13).
-
$20, on COD4, after trying out a friend's MW2.
It would be a lot more if I liked Steam. -
L4D 2: $30
Borderlands: $33.50 -
Received from wife Valkyria Chronicles ($20)
Bought Torchlight when it was $10
Have the Witcher ($14) and Stalker: Clear Sky ($5) in my cart. Since I am not in a big hurry to play either, thought I would wait to make sure they don't go on super sale before the 3rd.
Hearts of Iron III is tempting but I think I'll pass unless someone really talks me into it. Anyone out there really want to talk me into it?
So far that makes roughly $50, but that could go up depending on sales.
Oh, and also bought for the wife Carcassonne (the board game) - its a game right? So make it $85. -

In this season alone, thanks to multiple Steam sales:
2 x BF2 @ $14, $8
3 x TF2 @ $3
1 x Bioshock @ $9
1 x Mirror's Edge @ $9
1 x Torchlight @ $9
4 x STALKER @ $2
1 x Space Quest Collection @ $5
1 x Killing Floor @ $9
1 x The Void @ $5
1 x GTA IV @ $8
---------------------
The total I didn't really want to calculate:
~$81 + -
But TBH, most people are well under $100. You can't buy 2 console games for under $100 usually. Steam is just offering some awesome deals. Come to think of it, I should have bought some of those games for $2 and sent them to friends. At least it would have been a nice gesture. Even a few hours with Stalker or TF2 would have made someone's day. Boo hoo...
-
$0 for cod4 2, left 4 dead 2, assassin's creed, force unleashed...

The only games I bought were ones I was pressured into buying. Since October I bought L4D2 and Borderlands, neither of which I play much. Ended up spending ~$37 on each (4 pack split 4 ways) so $74 more than I wanted to.

Uh boy, where to start.
MW2 - 60$ -360
Assassins Creed 2 - 60$ -360
CoD WaW - 40$ (I think) -PC
Crysis Warhead - 50$ -PC

All of these games where bought in store, and only some where on sale. I like having the box when it comes to buying games, which is why I usually buy them in stores. And some of them where on the Xbox 360, which is usually the wonderful price of $59.99.
Total: 360$ Roughly
No wonder why I'm broke, lol. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
Preorder mw2 - net $40 amazon

gta4 ~$7
bf2 comeplete collection ~$8 -
About 20 euros for assassins creed 1, 40 euros for cod4 (this summer) and halo2 for about 15-20 euros.
Buying the best games about 2 years after the release not only saves you money, it also means you don't have to buy a new gaming laptop every week to keep up with the newest games and hence, saving you even more money. -
I spent unusually much on games this year (around $200):
Fallout3
Crysis
World in Conflict
Stalker Clear Sky
Fear2
Half Life Ep2
Last year i bought if i remember correctly (around $100):

Quake4
Half Life Ep1
C&C 3 -

$65 for the CE of Dragon Age:Origins, $40-ish for Borderlands, and $4.99 for the full version of Age of Conan to see if it is worth subscribing to (I'm thinking no, but I wanted a chance to get out of Tortage before making up my mind).
Doh, how could I forget? I picked up Mass Effect when it was on sale for a ridiculously low $9.99. That 9.99 was the best money I spent out of all 4 games, though I will say that I found Borderlands ridiculously entertaining for longer than I expected. DA:O isn't bad, I just kind of lost interest halfway into it. Mass Effect would have been worth it had I spent the $65 on it instead of DA:O. -
already pre-ordered ME2! -
New Super Mario Bros. Wii - $60
Don't have much money.

Total $550 ........no wonder i'm always broke -

$2.49 Star Wars: KOTOR

$64.99 Dragon Age: Origins - Digital Deluxe (Preorder)
Total: $141.19 ($71.2 w/o DA:O) from Nov 2009.

Didn't seem like that much, until you add it all up -
Looks like a lot of people picked up Borderlands, and I'm glad. I'm hoping they make a sequel to it minus the annoying things.
Anyone pick up the DLC Zombie Island? I'm tempted today since I'm feeling the urge to get my Pandora on. -
If you have the Steam version of Borderlands, you can get the DLC @6.69 until January 3rd.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8990/ -
Thanks for the heads up Ripfire. I really don't like draconian protection
Why did they try to ruin the game for PC users? -
0 dollars. Heroes of Newerth beta ftw!
-
about 65$ on steam and got
S.O.C
Empire Total War with all its add ons
3 CSS
and for PS3, Demon's Souls(AWESOME!!) 60$
So about 125$ in total -
Only have bought Mass Effect off Steam (just did it like 10 minutes ago - WOW steam servers are getting owned right now
) for $5.
Been doing a good job of resisting on splurging on games. -
7 Games from Steam sales so far and 1 Wii game-
~$100 -
Left 4 Dead 2 37.50 Steam (some multiplayer fun over the holidays)
Witcher 10.00 Steam (hmmm...may never get to it...)
Dawn of War 2 20.00 D2D (strangest install ever)
Armed & Dangerous 5.00 D2D (almost finished...very funny)
Mirror's Edge 5.00 D2D (unfortunately, it stutters on my m1710)
Monkey Island: SE 7.50 D2D (must-buy for gamers from the 90's)
Resident Evil 5 20.00 D2D (almost finished)
Swat 4 Gold 10.00 D2D (loved this game and lost the media)
Beyond Divinity 10.00 GOG (in preparation for the third installment)
And since I bought a couple of games during D2D's 24 Days of Christmas Sale, D2D gave me a $5 credit...
So about $120 for the laptop...and I bought 'Drawn to Life' for the DS used from Gamestop for $7 as a stocking stuffer for my six year old and then Lego Indiana Jones 2 for the 360 from Best Buy at $40 for a Christmas present...
$170 total give-or-take a few dollars for the Christmas season on video games...less than half of what I spent at Eddie Bauer and J. Jill on my wife's Christmas...digital online sales are great...
How much have you spent on games this season?
