    How much ram can my system hold?

    How much ram can my laptop hold right now its 2g 2x1gb i believe, is this the max?

    Most laptop motherboards nowadays can take 4GB total on two slots. However, since most people run 32-bit operating systems it is pointless to upgrade to 4GB as the OS can't use all 4GB (it will recognize all 4GB, but will only have sufficient addresses to use approx. 3.5GB).

    I know im just thinking towards the future if i can when i get vista 64 bit which i wil later on. My laptop isnt the latest one so i dont know if it can take 4 or 2.

    It'll probably work with 4GB.

    My laptop was only supposed to hold/recognize 2X1GB sticks maximum, even according the the MFR, but I tried it anyway (got the RAM for free, so I figured why not) and it works with 2X2GB sticks just fine.
