I'm only a casual gamer, so I got a laptop with an IGP (x3100). So far, it runs all the games I want smoothly at medium settings. I was wondering how much a RAM upgrade would help. Will it increase FPS even more (will it be noticeable?) and would I be able to push the settings to med/high?
thanks.

I'm guessing it will help a little...but not much, since IGPs are fairly weak.

Depends.. if you're on XP, probably not much difference at all. If you're on Vista, I'd expect a fair gain in performance.

don't expect a miracle, but it might help a little bit.
upgrading to 2 GB of ram isn't a bad idea in general anyway, it will help with general system responsiveness, especially if you are on vista. maybe even take the opportunity to get 4 GB of ram if your machine can accept it (its pretty cheap at this point) -
will be a miracle on dedicated GPU, but not IGP as everyone said.

You'll notice an overall increase in system performance if you are using Vista, and a few extra FPS. With XP you might see 20% of the same improvement.
Nothing major, but I guarantee it'll be easier and more pleasant to use. -
You will get more of a performance boost from the RAM itself than the IGP
How much will upgrading from 1GB to 2 GB RAM help for gaming on an IGP?
