Out of curiosity, how old is your gaming laptop. If you have more than one, then the one you use most often for gaming. If it's been upgraded, then still use original date of purchase. It's still the same laptop IMHO, just updated later rather than date of purchase.
-
Does upgrading count?
-
BTW, isn't that an "imagination" Spongebob reference? LOL. -
18 to 24 months old, BUT, when I bought it, it came with:
P8400
250GB 5400rpm Seagate
2GB DDR2 800MHz
GF 9600M GT 512 MB GDDR3
Since then I made following upgrades:
QX9300
4GB DDR2 800MHz
Intel 160GB G2 SSD
and I'm in the process of making a custom heatsink for my new Mobility Radeon 4850 512MB GDDR3
Just to keep up with the rest of the World -
I got my Inspiron 1520 as a mainstream/high-end laptop for high school senior year three years ago (8600M GT). I'll be receiving my brand new GX640 (ATI Mobility Radeon 5850) for the rest of college shortly
-
Just got me a Asus W90vp-X2...Q9000 at 2.7ghz and Crossfired 4870's...LOVING IT!!!
-
Let's see, the vostro 1500/inspiron 1520 model is like a month away from being 3 years old, and I'm still plenty happy with the power behind it and my vostro is still in great condition.
I expect it to last me through the next year too. -
1 month and 3 weeks old.
-
My current M860ETU is just over a year old.
-
Recently bought an Asus N61-JQ.Less than a month old
-
About a Year and a Half, just around the time I joined NBR.
It's still a beast, and I rarely have any problems with it at all. -
SomeFormOFhuman has the dumbest username.
Got the M1730 about 1.5 years ago.
Originally my specs came with:
T8100 @ 2.1GHz
2GB DDR2-667 RAM
8800M GTX SLI
320GB 5400.6 HDD
Now:
X9000 @ 3.4GHz
8GB DDR2-667
9800M GTX SLI
1TB (500GB 7200.4 RAID 0)
In future: Selling its parts individually for a more powerful computer (Turns head Looks at Clevo's X7200). X9000 & 8GB RAM (I use around 6-7GB of RAM at once so RAM is also important to me) doesn't cut it anymore to aid my intensive photoshop, 3D rendering, CADding, gaming and music & video encoding/editing needs. -
3 and 1/2 years and counting.
(laptop in sig)
The Sager that just won't die--lol.
It's never given me a real problem and still plays 99% of my favorite games at decent settings. -
19 month old m860tu/nexus and still going strong.
to think 19 months ago the 9800GT was the most powerfull 512mb card out thereand now its left in the shade by the 260/280/285/480
oh doesnt time fly by. -
Where do I start, my current best gaming laptop is a 3 years old Sager 2090. Never had any kind of problems with it, will keep it for a very long time and I love the speakers (best speakers in any laptop out there).
stock
t7300 upgraded to t8300
I got the 15.4 screen at 1680x1050 screen when I bought it
1gb of ram upgraded to 3gb
8600m GT DDR2-upgraded to Ati 4650 DDR2
160gb hard drive upgraded to 640gb hard drive
XP Pro
My old best gaming laptop was a Gateway 6831fx that the AC power board just burnt out 2 weeks ago but I found the part for it and will be fixing it next week when it arrives. This laptop is about 2.5 years old but bought it thru ebay 1 year and 4 months ago. This laptop has given me many problems over the 1.5 years.
stock
t5450 upgraded to t8300 (this cpu is now in the sager)
3gb of ram
250gb hard drive upgraded to 640 drive
8800m GTS
Vista Prem.
For next new gaming laptop I am going Sager again. -
Got it 2 month ago, but now my 5870MR is already on the verge of being toppled from the most powerful card from 480M.

I love my one month old NP8690. I don't feel any insecurity about the 480M or anything coming out with it.
-
I still use my old dinosaur m1710 xps,its the best laptop i have ever owned the go7950 gtx is still good enough to play todays games. But i use it to play older games like farcry halflife and battlefield 2.It gotta be pushing 4 years plus now,it would have been great to have upgraded to the 8800 card.
then my m571ru-u spec in my sig, great laptop zero problems plays everything i throw at it,but is getting left behind as gpu upgrades is a no go.
future laptop i always wanted an alienware had the chances twice before but opted for sager and dell.I really want an m17x cf 5780 i7 so better start saving -
Then the X7200 with SLI 480M is out and you will be tempted away and miss the chance again.
-
Well if you can call my laptop from signature a gaming rig, then it is old for about two year...
I did two upgrades - HDD from 250 to 320 GB and GPU replacement 9650M GT instead of old 8600M GS... -
Inspiron 1520, was quite a powerhouse for the money in 2007, 2,5 years and still kicking...although I'm scouting for a replacement due later this year.
-
I'm still using my current Vostro 1500, but once the 3-year warranty expires in November I'll be looking around for a high-end replacement.
-
It's turning 4 in 3 weeks.
It was a mid-level laptop when I bought it but it was a perfect fit for university and was still able to handle mid-level games at the time.
Been saving for 4 months and hopefully I'll be able to pull the trigger on a G73JH-A2 within the next few days.
*EDIT* I just pulled the trigger. My new G73JH-A2 should arrive sometime next week. -
Mine is 1 year 8 months old... toshiba X305 Q11 cpu 2.53,6 gigs of memory,
160 intel ssd g2 hard drive, 9700gts video card. (3dmarks 2006 score 9,520)

I bought in nov 2007 with t7700cpu. Upgraded to x9000 one year later, nov 2008.
I can still run every game out there with no problem at all with games that support SLI.
I game at 1440x900 with no AA/AF.
I am nvidia fan and with 480M out I believe next few months will be the right time for me to upgrade. -
Well my x205 is 2 and a half years... It still plays games fine, but its behind in cpu power... I'm thinking of buying an Asus G73, it would be a great jump in performance
...
-
Just over two years old and still going strong. I did upgrade the ram from 4GB to 8GB and replaced the 160GB HDD to a 320GB after it's first year. I might put an SSD in it by the end of this summer if prices on them drop as predicted. If I get 4 years out of this thing I'll be happy. I don't need to play the latest and greatest eye candy games as I have a gaming desktop for that.
-
3 months and 3 weeks so far with my D900F. Though I do miss the form factor of my old M1530, this baby will keep me going until she dies on me (sold the M1530 due to upgrading)
-
Just bought the MSI GE600 3 days ago.
-
mine arrived this morning
-
Mine is 4.1 yrs and still chugging with its' ancient 7700 OC'd. I keep looking at getting a G73 almost weekly, but even with the cash something is stopping me... -
Got my current laptop back in August of 2009, so not even a year.
Does my laptop even count as a gaming computer? -
G1 in 2007
G73 in 2010 -
-
my m9750 still rocks games and it's pretty old hardware. i guess that SLI 7950gtx setup works well since they're the best mobile DX9 cards.
however, when i built my desktop last november i gave the 17 inch gaming notebook to my mom to use as her primary computer.
so i guess my current 'gaming laptop' is only a month and a half old then... -
Yeah SLI 7900 and 8800 setups people have are pretty solid even today. I'd be hesitant to upgrade one of those if I had one. My Sager NP8662 is about 9 months old and hope to get another 6-9 months out of it. I usually sell my old laptop after 18-24 months and put the money towards a new one.
Funny thing is most of these "old" laptops are still pretty powerful. I have two older Shuttle boxes, one with Athlon 64 X2 4400+, 8600 GT, 2GB DDR and another with Athlon 64 X2 3600+, HD 4650, 2GB DDR and only get about 4500 3DMark06. Most of the laptops here would smoke that. -
My 6860 fx was purhased in august of 08 so it's almost 2 years old. Still plays everything I throw at it. I have decided to purchase a g73 to replace it.
-
almost 2 years old. most recent game played on it: mass effect 2
-
My laptop (see my sig) was purchased in otkober 2007 for 1300 and was the best I could find. I still game on it regularly, I was surprised I could even play Batman AA ^^ Next stop will be an ati hd 4650 upgrade (got to love acer for its mxm slots) so I'll be able to play AC2 and COD MW2 and hook up an externall full hd monitor aswell. I'm going to use this lappy for another year or two thats for sure.
-
looks like most of us are power junkies
-
There's also a 2+ year old Vostro 1500, which I sold to my ex, which is still going strong.
She isn't a gamer, so that's probably helped it survive. -
Just hit the 2 year old mark earlier this month.
-
HP HDX Dragon 8800GTS, 2+ years and is my main PC for everything.
Gave my XPS Gen2, 7800 gtx to my boy, and he plays everything I have plus his stuff. 5+ years old. Upgraded from 6800 Ultra after about 1.5 years. Replaced display that went bad about 6-8 months ago and put Win7 on it. Runs smooth as butta. Edit* Even though not my main, looks to be the oldest one still rockin games that has been listed so far. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Just another month and a half before my G51vx hits one year old.
Damn, I've had this thing for a year, already? -
I had mine for about a year and three months. Very solid and I expect another 3 years out of it.
-
6 days old and counting.
replaced my p-6860fx that was still going strong (except for BC2)
-
Alienware m15x, 2 years and still going strong
-
-
Just 2 months old. My old 2.5 years old Vostro 1500 started having a few issues and I wanted a power upgrade.
-
As you get into your mid 20s you start to think more about power vs. value and get something which is adequate for your needs and stay with it until it really needs replacement.
