    Lol, true true.

You are more likely to buy something cheaper when it's with your own money. Ain't that a batch of muffins.

    Lol, so true.

When I was scraping my money together, I opted for an ~$800 Vostro 1500, w/ 8600M GT DDR2.

    When my mother agreed to loan me $1500, I bought a ~$1900 M860TU, w/ 9800M GT DDR3.

I paid her back in full, of course.

Then I sold the Vostro for $500, The M860TU for $999, and bought my current machine.

    10 months and counting

I got my toshiba laptop for only $750 at best buy which it was a huge deal with the specs it had. I never had a problem with it and it runs very cool. It plays all games surprising well so im sticking with it for a few years :p

Not much of a gaming laptop (it was decent back in the day though), but it's been about 15 months since purchase. The motherboard died at around the 13 months mark, and I had to send it back for repair, but it's been good since.

bah. im in my mid 20's and was also considering an alienware M17x but they took too darn long to release the 5870's for them. had the 8760 ordered in march, took 2 months to get to me because i typed in the zip code wrong and it got sent to spain so i had to wait for it to get returned to sender. once it got returned to sender, i received it 4 days later.

About a month old right now (Gateway FX). I have a nasty habit of changing these things out about every 2 months or so. Envy 17 is next on my hit list.

Up until about 6 months ago, I had been "gaming" on my Toshiba Satellite A75-S209, so that put it at nearly 6 years since i got it in March 2004. It still runs just fine, just no longer plays the games I want to play. Its specs were P4 3.0 GHz, 1.5 Gb mem, 100 Gb HDD, ATI Radeon 9000. Since then I have had a G51j and now a Clevo w870cu. The clevo should last me some time though; at least a year.

Picked up the m1710 in March 2008...I bought it used though...I believe it was initially purchased from Dell in October 2007...

Had to replace the 7950 GTX last year, and I've upgraded the internal HDD to 640GB...other than that...*shrug*...

Not sure I'll ever get rid of it...too many old(er) games to enjoy...nothing recently has been compelling enough to upgrade...unfortunately, I probably need to start stockpiling 7950 GTX boards so I can replace them every year or so...

And the m11x isn't really my 'gaming' machine...it's my $900 novelty...like a Horny Toad or a Whoopee Cushion, but the cost caused my wife to be even more upset with me than normal...the thing is so tiny and purty...yet it plays newer games way better than the m1710 and runs a lot cooler...

Just got my G73, though my old Toshiba is 5 years old and still kicking. Pretty surprising considering the hardships it went through (drops, desk corners and rain...).

My G51 is a less than a year old by a few weeks and doesn't even feel like it was purchased that long ago. Anyway it does it's job very well and I'll keep on using it for a few more years or until it dies (2-4-ish?). Or unless Duke Nukem Forever comes out, I'll definitely upgrade to a new one just for that game.
