I just ordered a HP dv2700t (T9300 2.5ghz, 4gb RAM, 320gb, 5400rpm, and NVIDIA 8400m gs 128mb). I am not a game fanatic who plays WoW or Starcraft all the time. All I play is The Sims 2 with many expansion packs installed. I once played it on my friend's computer, which is a HP dv6500 with 1.9ghz, 2gb, 250gb, and NVIDIA 7150) The loading time was moderate, with occasional choppy graphic and sound. Is my dv2700t going to run this game smoothly? If not, is there component I can upgrade? (NVIDIA 8400 128mb is the max on dv2700t.)

Looks pretty good. If you really wanted better performance, get a different laptop. Lower the processor to a 2.0ghz ish model and raise the gpu to a 8600m gt. It is a lot faster than the 8400m gs.

I have the 8400 though, and it is decent, but i don't care to game on my laptop with it. It is a lot better than your friends 7150 though.

I play this game quite often, and I can say it runs fine on my aged system. I usually keep the settings above medium, but below the max. The load times for me are not stellar, but once you're in the game it's fine. I have an E1705 w/ 2 ghz Core Duo (old, not 64 bit) an Nvidia 7900GS 256mb, 2gb ram and 100Gb 5400rpm drive. I think the slow drive is what kills the loading times for me.

Your 7900gs is far greater than the 8400 though! But yes, load times rely on how fast your hard drive is. The op has the 320gb 5400 drive which is a very fast drive for 5400rpm.

I think the m1530 would be a better buy especially for gaming though with the DDR3 and the 8600 gt :)

the NVIDIA 8400 on the DV6700T has 256mb gddr3 and the NVIDIA on the DV2700T has only 128mb of GDDR3.

so 67xx should be better but not much , if I were in US , I would order a Dell XPS M1530.

that said the HP is a great laptop , especially when your are not a hard core gamer.
