Hiya. I wanna play some valve games and people are recommending me to play it at a lower dxlevel. Like at 8.0 or something.

I have a macbook with X3100 and 1 gig ram.

So I was wondering how to change it? And would it increase FPS and/or graphics?

    in steams game list,
right click the game, click on launch options and add
"-dxlevel 80" for directx 8.0 paths

and you can revert back to 9.0 with
    "-dxlevel 90"
