I am not a computer person, and I am not sure where this topic should go.
I recently purchased an ASUS NX90JQ with NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M, and the computer came with a NVIDA 3D Vision preview pack, but every time I try to open a pic, I get this:

    Stereo Error
NVIDA 3D Vision features are not enabled. Please review stereo setup information.
Press OK to launch NVIDA Control Panel

I press OK and go to the NVIDA Control Panel. I read and see what I need to do, and have tried different things, but still can't get this to work.
If someone could please walk me through the steps to make this work, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks

Texsinbad, are you using the driver listed here?
    NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL

If not you could try upgrading to this driver. This is just a guess on my part, you may want to wait for an NVIDIA expert to chime in.

As I said, I don't know crap, but the message I get says that it is not "enabled", which makes me think that I need to do something to enable it.

I am just hoping someone knows how to do this, and will tell me.

Thanks for the link and I will check it out.

Well if the problem is enabling it, right click on desktop, select nvidia control panel.

Now in the control panel that opens, there should be a Stereoscopic 3d options, located on top of the other options.

When you click it, the right panel should show some options. Check the box to enable Stereoscopic 3D.

Now the problems could be different:

    - you sure that your built in laptop screen is a 120hz compatible 3d display? If it does it should come with Shutter Glasses.

    - if you don't have any glasses and if your screen is a normal one, then 3dVision/3dtvPlay can be enabled only if you connect an external 3d tv/display compatible with hdmi 1.4 (which I suppose you have).

So even if you enable it there's no use unless you use an external monitor 3d capable (if your screen is a normal one).

Report back so I can assist you further.

In the NVIDA Control Panel there is an area that says Manage 3D Settings, and in there, it has Global Settings and Program Settings.

I tried to make a copy of them and/or the page, but was unable to.

I have tried different settings, but it still says not enabled.

No, it didn't come with any glasses. Just this 3D Vision Experience with 3D Vision Preview Pak.

    Thanks for your assistance.

Well then it's normal that you can't use or enable it.
Your built in screen it's a normal LCD therefore you need an hdmi1.4 3d compliant Tv/Monitor hooked by hdmi port.

In any case you can't use it with your built in LCD. It needs to be a special screen, either 120hz 3d capable or 120hz Naked Eye.
The laptop is previous gen I really doubt you can use 3d at all.

Well you can connect it to a 3DTV via HDMI and use 3DTV Play to play in 3D.

Kingpinzero, I think that I understand what you said, and it makes sense, BUT why would I get an message telling me that it was not enabled?

It seems like it is capable of doing 3D, and that I should be able to enable it whether I can actually see 3D or not.

Your card is capable, but there's a driver level control on how it enables 3d.
If there's no compatible display attached you will not be able to enable it regardless of the settings.
The only test you can do is to connect your laptop to a 3d monitor or display that supports 3d via hdmi otherwise you cant do much in this state.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense.

I was just curious about it. So far, I am not a big fan of 3D.

To me it is nice but I don't think that the picture is as clear or crisp as without the 3D. I was wondering if that is true or just my impression.

3D in anything gets a slight drop in resolution and frame rate.

Hi I have a question that's been confusing me...i have a 3D asus G73 laptop with the glasses and 3d vision kit etc, now if I connected my laptop to a 3D TV then would 3DTV Play software enable automatically or do I need to download it? I believe 3D laptop owners get free upgrade to 3DTV Play (others pay $40 to download), so does my laptop has it built in already or what is the procedure??

    Cheers
