Hello everybody
I recently ran into this issue as i would lose power in my house and i would find myself in the need to keep using my pc even just for 30 min on battery: the problem is that i get an huge and massive fps drop ( considering that i play all on ultra it really makes all struggle).
I already:
-checked that on the control panel i got select high perfomance mode
-disabled nvidia battery boost thing in the ge force experience panel
-googled a lot and could not find a concrete solution( yet i found this problem to be very recurrent)
-set my nvidia power managemetn into nvidia control panel to something opposite to prefer best energy usage
-verified that as soon as i lose battery, my nvidia downclocks from 1800 mhz to like 900-1200.. so probably it's the graphic card the problem.. how do i fix it?
Idk what else to do.. i want to be able to run my games at the maximum even for those 10-20 min while i recover my power.. any suggestion?
thank you very much for your help

Not sure if you can - there is a limit too how much power the battery can supply at once without having problems. Check to make sure you're not hitting the upper limit of the battery itself.

how do i check that? -

Let's not pretend it can be calculated, you cant run a desktop class cpu and a 120W (min) 1070 on battery. You will damage it, and kill it.
Sorry to tell you that you will have to forget this
Can we know it's absolutely necessary to run your games on battery for such a short period ?tlprtr19, crusher88 and don_svetlio like this. -
But.. i mean... i remember on my previous laptop, i had a gt 540m and the perfomance would be same be it mobile or plugged.. i understand that this is a desktop replacement but then let's say i'm doing an heavy gamy session and i get a blackout ( powers goes off ) .. well it would be nice to be able to continue to game without any issue for say 20 minutes.. even 10.. at this point the only solution would need to get an ups or something like that.. so i guess it's something i cannot change in any way? thank you for the explanation

The CPU alone in your current machine probably draws more power than the CPU and GPU of your previous one.

Also have you checked your CPU settings? Your CPU might underclock itself on battery.

Try monitoring the clocks of both gpu and cpu

ty all for your answers, as i had said in my first post, i had checked the clocking speed already and the problem was the gpu.. so not much i can do apparently... ty all again
