Bit of an esoteric question, I searched around but the "solutions" to the 64-bit problem are pretty convoluted to me and don't address what you do if you dl'ed the game off of steam.

Basically, if you have a 64-bit OS and more than 2 gigs of memory, it will give you the following error: "Engine Error: Available memory less than 15MB!" Of course, I have all of the patches.

I've found a couple of solutions but don't know how to implement them.

    This one, forget it: http://iain.cx/articles/bloodlines/index.html?part4
This one I'm not too sure how to do in Vista: http://www.esgaming.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=25505
There's another one that has you d/l an msi file and reinstall but I have zero idea how to do this from Steam.

Any ideas? Been dying to play this game for years now and I finally have a computer that can run it but apparently it's too good.

Why? Read the detailed instructions. Do as it says. And of course, take a backup of the file first.

    Problem solved.

If you don't want to try the solutions you find, then I don't see how any of us can help.

Well, I'll give it a shot and see what happens. I believe the official patch engine.dll may be replaced by the (necessary) user patches but hopefully that's immaterial.
