I still get “tearings” in games when I look around really fast. At first I suspected it was my lcd on my e1705 but I hooked it onto a CRT and I still see it and its running at 75 hertz whereas the lcd was on 60 hertz. So I guess it was my graphics card (Gefore go 7900 gs), I have V-sync on but still see it, any suggestions?

    Definitely sounds like V-sync.

I had the same issue ! Happens due to high framerates and as both chrisyano and Jalf suggested, turning v-sync on solves it !

You'll also wanna turn on triple buffering, otherwise vsync will KILL framerates.

yea my V-sync is on according my nvida control panel. A lot of people mentions something about triple buffering, how do you enable that?

There should be an option to turn it on in the game menu as doing it from the nvidia control panel doesnt guarantee anything as some games may not support it

I'd rather have tearing than V-Sync on, it kills your framerates.

If the framerates are always over what the monitor's refresh rate can handle, then it is worth it to put V-Sync on; it caps your framerates and yes, there is a slight hit in performance, but with a Go7900GS, I wouldn't be too concerned. ;)

yea I'm just going to run some test to see how much of the fps difference with Vsync on or off but so far both seems to produce similar image quality. And no the game I'm playing (lock on) doesnt seem to have a Vsync option in the menu. I would still like to know how to enable triple buffering.

Ditto...I have tearing issues with Oblivion and my X1600 on the nc8430. V-Sync hasn't solved the problem, but I'm going to try triple buffering this weekend (if the option is there).

I get tons of tearing in css but when I turn v-sync on I get a "funky" kinda jump lagg. I got triple buffering on and ect... My fps is stuck at 60fps steady with v-sync on but I hate that "funky" jump lagg.

Does the Nvidia control panel have a separate profile for the game you're playing? And if so, does that profile enable vsync?

And no, vsync does not typically "kill your framerates". Usualy it kills the frames you don't see. If you start out with a framerate below your monitors refresh rate, it will in some cases limit you to half the refresh rate, but if you have a decent GPU? I wouldn't worry about it.

Compstomper: Uh, it'd be a lot easier to tell you the problem if I knew what a "funky kinda jump lag" is. :)

Ya. triple buffering gets rid of that. I have vsync and triple buffering on, actually perform better in 3dmark.

Does anyone know how to get the classic view like the picture below for newer foreware like 96.98?
I can't seem to get that option open, and if i can't see it, i can't turn on the Triple buffering.

You can't. It didn't look Vista-like enough, so they had to change it in order to follow Microsoft's guidelines. You can enable a classic-style navigation pane in the new one though, to make it a bit less awkward.

I know its in the advance section, my question was how can i see it on the latest driver since they got rid of the classic look. Meaning i can't even get into performance and quality section let alone the advance tab.
