Searched forum with no luck. :/

On the brink of buying a notebook, but I'm eating my head in frustration at trying to clamp down on what graphics controller this laptop has (ASUS K53E-BBR7, i3-2310m). I'm determined to know exactly what I'm buying.

The spec sheets claim 'blank' and 'Integrated Intel® GMA HD' * respectively, but user comments and website reviews for the same BBR7 model claim 3000, Sandy Bridge HD, and show 'Windows Experience Index' rating of 6 for Gaming Graphics, which is on par with a 3000.

My question is: Is it normal practice for laptop manufacturers to be as vague as possible about which Intel integrated graphics controller they have?

That's not fair, perhaps - my question should be simply: Which gfx integrated chip does this laptop utilize? Is there anyone alive who can tell me? Newegg won't. Asus points to it's specs page. *

I've been using notebookcheck.net to distinguish between the 6 Intel HD cards cards.

    Thanks in advance :)

    * The Asus specification page is generalised for the entire K53E series, which is unhelpful, so presumably Intel HD graphics is intended to be non-specific.

EDIT: Should I have posted this in the 'ASUS' subforum?

If I'm not mistaken, all sandy bridge processors come with the 3000.

I hope you're not mistaken. That would be simple.

Ah - I should have consulted Wikipedia!

    Spot on, Rambisco, thanks!

For laptops yes. For desktops only the K-series and like two i3's carry the 3000. The rest of the desktops have 2000.
