    Hey guys

Bought a hard copy of the orange box a few months ago, but I never got around to installing it

I just registered my CD key to my steam account, and after I chose which games to install, it said creating local cache and after a while the 2 games showed as downloading under my games

Now I want to play on-line, and my internet isn't the fastest, so downloading 9GB will take forever and seems pointless if I have the installation dics :(

I know that it will go online to update, but I need your help to install the actual games using the 2 DVDs that were in the box

I tried what was listed in the FAQS on thier site, but that didn't make any difference [ LINK]

    Some help guys
    Thanks

Put the disc in the drive and install it. This can be done by taking out the round shiny disc from the plastic box, pressing the button on your optical drive to eject the tray, placing the disc in the tray, and pushing the tray back into the drive.

I never knew

    LOL

The story I wrote above was what followed after I had inserted the disk for the first time, run setup.exe (steam was already installed), and registered my key to my account

It gave the option to install but didn't do so from the disk which was IN THE DRIVE :p, and went straight to download

Sorry for not mentioning that before

Try uninstalling the games that are downloading in progress so you can do a clean install from the DVD.

when I choose to un-install in simply opens steam and asks me if I want to delete the local cache

I have done this, but the same process repeats itself, after choosing the games to install when starting again it has been on "creating local game cache files" for a bit
    Waiting to see what happens

While the cache is being created the internet/network is constantly being used, and the disc isn't even spinning

More than likely, after you finish installing the games. It will download a part, This part(s) are updates. Since Steam updates with out asking that is why is downloading, but the game it self should be above like 70% complete or something like that. If it is 0% then something is wrong.

That's strange. Time to sever the link. Try installing in offline mode.

    This was the problem

It was downloading from 0% with the DVD not being used at all

However, now about the 4th time I have tried re-installing anfter un-installing, it says installing from disc :D :D

Have no clue why, I did nothing different, I will update in a few minutes once its done :D

    Edit-
Tried that already but it had simply said, server unavailable try again later
Let's see if it fully installs using disks, looks that way :D

Perhaps later. I need to test my GPU heatsink to make sure it doesn't burn my card after I modded it in my sleep.
