Just got my new Sager 8278-S and im pretty sure its running off the igpu. Im getting like ~50 fps on Heroes of Newerth which doesn't seem right as that is about what I was getting on my Asus G73JH with a 5870m.

Right click, there's a selection to force the GPU.

firstly what graphics card is it?

has that model got optimus? if so it should auto switch. there have only been 2 games in the last few years that had to be forced.

That doesn't always work right. Best to go into nVidia Control Panel, add the .exe for the game and set it to use the dedicated GPU.

It has the 870m. I don't see the option to choose the card based off right clicking.

either right click and then click on nvidia control panel
    or
start > control panel > nvidia control panel
on the page it opens there should be a drop down box which will have all your programs and games in. click on the game exe.
in the next box down click on dedicated gpu
scroll to the bottom and click apply.
    close and try again.

also make sure you are set to high performance mode and not balanced or power saver. click on battery in bottom right of screen on windows 7 but no idea where it will be found in windows 8
