    Hi everyone!

I want to install the latest NVIDIA driver, but I don't know how to do it correctly. I have heard the following:

    Uinstall your Nvidia Driver

Boot in Safe Mode and use Driver Sweeper

Boot normal and install the driver.

Is it the right way to do it?

Your method will work fine. Even if you install the new driver without removing the old one, in most cases it will be fine.

Thats exactly the method I use every time I use a new driver, and has worked for me every time.

I have different(slightly) method on doing this.

Need to use this method for my laptop(need run this method once, then, other methods only workable):
Remove the Nvidia Driver using device manager entirely(included those chipset and drivers stuffs).
No restart, scan with Driver Sweeper twice and CCleaner too.
Restart the computer. Install new Driver.

After the 1st silly method of removing the GPU driver.
    I use this method:
Remove the Nvidia Driver using Device Manager entirely(included those chipset and drivers stuffs).
Restart to safe mode, run Driver Sweeper and CCleaner twice.
Restart to normal mode and install new driver.

I've always done the steps without drive sweeper or CCleaner and I never had any issues. I know that is better safe than sorry, but so far no sorries... :p

if your not sure what your doing its always safest to do it the official way below.

Here's a step by step guide on the best way of updating the drivers:

    Download driver cleaner pro HERE
this is a great program which will delete all traces of drivers as sometimes when you uninstall them they leave behind files which can cause issues when you come to install new drivers. We’ll use this in a minute

Download the latest drivers for your operating system 32/64bit from Nvidia HERE

Extract/ copy the files to a temporary directory such as c:\temp

Go to the control panel > program and features > scroll down the list and find NVIDIA > then select NVIDIA and click uninstall. It will ask if you want to restart the system.. click yes

Press F8 on startup and go into windows in safe mode.

Run driver cleaner and select NVIDIA drivers.. then clean.

Go to the control panel > system> device manager > graphics card. Right click on any present and click uninstall

Restart the system and go into windows normally. Install the NVIDIA drivers listed above which you put into a temporary folder

Restart the system.. and fingers crossed all should be well!

I just uninstall the device driver then run the nvidia uninstaller for drivers and physix.. after that reboot and install new drivers and have never had any problems.

Some people(Included me), can install driver without removing old driver sometime, especially official drivers. They won't actually need to remove the old driver in order to install them. Moveover, doesn't have problems with them too.

OK, it seems OP have it problem/question solved. Cheer~
