i know Crysis is the only game thats actually out right now, but im trying to get a ballpark. will it be able to do all high settings, or would it have to scale down to medium on some?
Is this pic accurate or just preliminary? http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9700M-GTS.9899.0.html

9700m GT is about 8700m GT, it depends on your resolution, i'll say playable with medium at 1440x900
-
you should play Stalker just fine, because it has the same requirements as the first one, and if Crysis 2 was lets say a 5FPS increase over the first one, you should play it well.
-
I though the 9700gt is better than the 8700gt, I think its in between the 8700gt and the 8800gts. so medium settings really up to 1680x1050 should be fine

Crysis II has not even been announced. Of course if you are talking about the standalone expansion pack,Crysis Warhead, then it should be more fluent than the original Crysis as has been announced by Crytek, but don't expect much. Clear Sky is running the same engine as Shadows of Chernobyl,so it shouldn't be a problem. GTA4 definitely will be playable on high.

It should be able to play Crysis I at medium-high settings. It's going to be completely fine. The 8800m GTS can play at all high settings. The newer refresh of the 8800m GTS, the 9800m GTS, should perform 5-10% better than than the 8800m GTS.
8600m GT << 8700m GT < 9600m GT < 9700m GT < 8800m GTS < 9800m GTS -
bump, added the chart for input

For Crysis, you would need to scale down the Res and maybe drop a few settings.
You should google around for Crysis graphical configs, they can make your game run a lot smoother, and mostly it looks better too!
Stalker should run fine, second one will probably be a bit more demanding but nothing too much!
How well should the 9700GT run Crysis, Crysis II, STALKER II, GTA4...
