How well will my new Clevo M570U-A perform running games?

So I purchased the Clevo M570U-A from RJTech last week, and its scheduled to be delivered this Friday. I customized my purchase with these specs:

    17" WXGA (1440x900)
    Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.0 GHz)
    2GB DDR2 (667 MHz) RAM
    Go 7800 GTX 256MB
    80GB 7200 RPM HDD
    Dual Layer DVD+/-R
    Intel Wireless 802.11a/b/g
    Windows XP Home SP2

    Total was just under $2000.

I have never owned a laptop like this before, but I spend a lot of time between home and my parents house, and need a computer that I can game on when I'm away from my apartment. I did a fair amount of research, especially on these forums, and found the M570U-A to be a great solution to my needs.

I am wondering about this laptop's gaming power. I would like to be able to play any game currently on the market on it very well; good FPS is very important to me.

The most demanding game on a system out currently is Oblivion, in my opinion. Therefore, if my questions are answered about this system's performance in that game, I can better understand how it will perform overall.

How will this system run Oblivion? My current desktop at home is a A64 3500+, 2GBs, 6800 Ultra, and I found it was largely unenjoyable to run Oblivion because the FPS would dip to under 10 in some places outdoors. I stopped playing the game, because the experience was no longer fun. Will this laptop offer a significant performance increase? And how future proof is this laptop? How long can I expect to run current games before it drastically shows its age?

I thank you ahead of time for any information you can provide!

Your machine will play Oblivion or any other game, really well, at high settings.

Anything will play on high settings without any problem. Like Goshem said though, watch the heat.

You have a great system there. :D
(I guess my Clevo awareness suggestions in the "What Should I Buy" forum is working)

I have a Clevo D900K with the same videocard: 17" LCD and nVidia 7800 GTX.

I run all games at native resolution @ High to Ultra High settings. no problems. :)
For Oblivion, I set it to High Settings for best performance and still good graphics quality.

Remember to use the Fn+F2 command while gaming, it toggles all the fans on the notebook to go to full speed or to auto speed.... very cool that Clevo has put this in their high-end notebooks.

I would recommend the new Zalman ZM-NC1000 notebook cooler for your notebook.

If you want a portable solution, I would recommend the Vantec LapCool4, which is what I use, its very solid and folds up to fit into any notebook bag/backpack.

    ??? I thought the the clevo M570U always had a 7900GTX, 7950GTX or a X1600.
And the M570A always had a centrino processor with 533 or lower mhz fsb

he is talkin about a Clevo M570U-A... not M570A (which was discontinued Pent-M model).

the M570U-A is the same as the M570U, but comes standard with WXGA+ (1440 x 900) LCD and ATI X1600... until recently the ATI cards were backordered, which prompted resellers to offer an upgrade to 7800 GTX for +$100-150 (which was freakin awesome). After the ATI cards came back in stock, most of the resellers pulled the 7800 GTX option off their sites... except for RJtech.com

The Clevo M570U has all LCD and videocard options available for configuration, but for a higher price.. about +$400 to $500.
