I am currently deciding between two different computers that both have the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660M graphics card. One computer has 1366 x 768 resolution, and the other has 1920 x 1080p resolution.
Now with this graphics card, could i play games like skyrim, WoW, guild wars 2, and battlefield 3 with a steady fps at 1080p resolution? If so, for games like skyrim, will it leave room for visual enhancement mods like ENB's and retextures without severely hampering framerate.
How would the 1366 x 768p resolution compare to the console version. Could you notice the difference between the two resolutions on a 15.6" screen? And will you have to adjust your resolution for most games with the 1366 x 768?

You should look at the game benchmarks for the 660M.

personally,i can make a difference between low and high res,but lot of people can not make the different.

Would the graphics be able to handle both the high resolution and some ENB mods for skyrim? Or would they run smoother on lower resolution?
-
Well if you play at 1080p you dont really need AA... which you might want if you do play in 720p...
Also 1366 x 768 is better than 720p...
I personally went with 1080p simply because im not only playing games with this laptop... And i would prefer moving my ingame graphic from high to normal and keep 1080p... -
I play GW2 with the 660m. It does pretty well I believe. I cant max out every single item but most are maxed out and its running 50ish FPS.
-
Yep, GW2 runs on almost max at steady 40-50FPS. Skyrim runs at around 50FPS on max except AA and Medium shadows; it often jumps to 60 though with the lowest dips being around 30 (extremely rare). I also run a 4K texture mod, an objects mod and a water physics mod. I don't know about BF3 as I don't have the game, however I think it would only run well on High settings in multiplayer (you may get by on Ultra in singleplayer).
Oh, and I have a 1080p screen.

The difference is noticeable on a 15.6" screen. The 1080p screen as approx. double the number of pixels. If money is not an issue here, and the price difference is not that big, I would recommend you go with the full HD screen, in order to make the most of your GTX 660M. You can always change the resolution down to 1366 x 768 or tweak the game settings downwards to fit your needs. If you won't use the laptop exclusively for gaming, then you will also benefit while watching full 1080 movies, for example.
-
Personally you really want to go for the 1080p screen even if you intend to game at 768p and it not be your native resolution. 1080p is such a huge increase over 720p and you will regret not going for it and having to upgrade later on.
The 660M GT is a good card and should run any game perfectly fine at high settings, AA in some games has to be limited no matter what card you have unless it is top of the range. -
You're looking at two versions of the Y580, correct?
Take the 1080p SKU. Every 768p LCD on the market is of mediocre quality, and the higher res screen has benefits outside of gaming.
It's better to have the option to lower the res while gaming, than to be stuck with a low ceiling.
How will my graphics card handle?
