I'm waiting on my setup to arrive on xmas... How high off settings do you think I'll be able to run smoothly on Battlefield 3?

Good. You should run into little to no problems for 1080p Ultra settings for both games.

    sure man whatever :D

So running skyrim at all ultra settings 1920x1080 4xAA 8xAF. Things look fine, for sure totally playable at those settings. Not sure how to turn on the FPS but it has to be above 30.

You have to use Fraps or Afterburner (or Precision) to display fps, there is no console command.

To be honest with you my Alienware has similar specifications as yours. The branding of the laptop shouldn't matter vs. the hardware inside. We all run it very similarly.

Hay Guys I have 5x 6990's in quintuplet crossfire with 50TB of RAM and 3 Flux Capacitors.

    Can my computer run Skyrim?

P.S. If I already own/ordered said computer what would be the point in me asking since I am going to find out anyways?

    Yeah using fraps...
ok 4xAA frames around 25 FPS , 2xAA jumps up to 35-40 FPS.

So would say final setting 1920 x 1080 2xAA 8xAF all ultra should give you playable FPS. However, most of the start is indoors, would assume that goes down when outside. I would say make sure at least 8xAF because the texture shimmering is really bad if it is lower than that. I'm sure there are some more FPS that can be squeezed out since every quality slider is all the way to the right, so changing a few things like maybe shadow draw distance etc could speed things up.

    Stock clocks btw.

Oh well... probably too busy to play this one much more till I get my next project done lol!

Frankly graphics are really not that impressive. Think its just because they are targeting the same console hardware, not like they could totally rebuild the engine. Very similar to oblivion, and there is this ugly blue border around the swords when equipped... why do that? The dragon dude looked pretty cool though. Sorry not trying to ruin it for you, just do not expect this to be light years above oblivion graphics wise, more like oblivion 2.0.

lol... well that's not all that useful to the discussion. why ask? so peeps with similar systems can compare notes. i think that's a fair question.

No if you want to help others, you benchmark it and post actual results rather than guess or assume. We can talk about how great Half Life 3 will run on my laptop all day. But none of the talk matters without proof.

6990 is the best gpu out so its going to run the game fine obviously as anybody would know that has one.

Asking questions about something is a pre-edemptive action taken to make choices. Aka to help determine to buy a system, but if you already bought it. Well... the rest can be filled in with common sense.

If you already jumped out of the plane and forgot your parachute, whats the point in asking "am I going to die" don't worry about 45 seconds you will know. So will the 200 people looking at the snow angel you made out of solid cement.

Just in one of my moods to point out I felt this thread had absolutely no real purpose and there has been a trend of people posting the absolute top end systems and asking if it can run games. Seems more like bragging than asking.

I agree with ViciousXUSMC. Buy a top end machine and THEN ask "how well will it run game X"? I can understand if you already own a machine with meager specs and wondering if you should buy a game depending on how it will run. But if you buy a high end machine spending that kind of coin I hope you either have a good sense of what it can accomplish or are an enthusiast that can report back with actual results.

I'll do my best. The last time I was into custom systems was in the late 90's.

I was asking because I haven't asked anyone about BF3 yet and have heard it's top end for graphics games.. As far as being crabby about me asking - go FARK yourself and don't bother responding if it urks you.

I'll try to figure out the benchmarking thing once I get my system up and running and will post whatever results I can.

@OP, since you don't have your laptop in hand you can always go to YouTube to find out the fps for different games.

That's what I always do when it comes to buying laptops and games. :)

You need at LEAST 6 Flux Capacitors to play any game at a reasonable setting. Can you say slideshow?

mwaaa ha ha ha. wow you guys are halarious! thanks for your contributions to this thread! very mature.

so back to actually helping the guy:

I was using FRAPS to test if you had read my previous post. Average 35 FPS @1920 x 1080 all ultra 2xAA 8xAF.

I apologize to you jmiller for the majority of posts in this thread that are clearly mocking / trolling. (C'mon guys if you don't like the thread then just dont reply to it....). Its totally legit for people to post there specs and compare notes on what settings they run their games at.

Someone needs to lighten up... A little humor never hurt anyone... Neither does a little good-natured ribbing.

I think someone is a tad cranky.

Yeah no big deal... I've been in many forum groups over the years and totally understand the process.

Good to be here. If I hadn't of gotten into the forum I would have wasted money on ram and hard drives over GPU and been screwed w/ a body that was un-upgradeable.

    lol..
