Will a HP 6000z laptop play CoD 1&2, and maybe bf2 or some other FPS's?
    It has these specs:

    TL-52 1.6 AMD Turion 64 X-2
    1GB Ram
    256MB NVIDIA GeForce 7200 w/ Turbocache

It will probably suffer with Battlefield 2, and with 1 GB of RAM< you are already limiting yourself. I am not too sure of CoD 1 and 2, since I haven't played them.

You can basically run any game, but in newer ones you'll need to use low-medium settings.

CoD1 - very playable, no worries. It is a DirectX 7 game (no fancy specialfx, no shaders).

CoD2 - this is going to be a killer if you try to run it in DirectX 9 mode (default), but you can easily play in DirectX 7 mode. There are options in-game to change that.

BF2 - playable, but I don't know at what settings. As posted, you may encounter issues since you only have 1GB of RAM.

Have you already purchased this laptop? Perhaps there is a better one available for your budget; consider completing the FAQ in the What Should I Buy forum.

I don't really mind playing on low or medium settings. I just want it to work and not really lag much and I'll be happy, and btw I already bought it and it's coming in the mail. I'll be happy if it can at least play CoD or CoD2.
Oh, and how would you change CoD2 from DX9 to DX7 mode?

Yeah, it will work better because there is less of a load on the GPU. DirectX 9 adds a lot of complicated shaders/specialFX (reflections/refractions, shadows, dynamic lighting), which is very hard for the GPU to do, especially one as slow as the Go7200.

I forgot to mention that it was CoD1&2 multiplayer, not singleplayer. Would it still work good with a DSL connection?

Okay, well I have a 7200 and I can blay BF2 at medium settings at 1024x768, with the comp in my sig, mind you I have a more powerful processor, and 2gb of ram. I can play the Cod2 demo at DX7, with Native Res of 1280X800 with no AA, and Antiostropic Filtering, at always 35 or more FPS. Everything else is at default, and everything runs smooth and looks quite good. Cod 1 runs very nice and smooth. Some other games you can play with this card include: F.E.A.R, HL2, CS:S, Prey, and UT2004, all games are basically playable with this card, even the newest one's, and they run quite good for me at Medium settings. Most games that are 2yrs or older will run maxed out, with no AA, and most recent games will run at 800x600 at medium settings with very smooth FPS. It isn't thes best card, but it is quite cabable and will get the job done if you are a light gamer. Mind you, this is without OC'ING. I have a 360, so I leave the eyecandy for that machine.
