    Hello,

I know this issue has been discussed in other threads, but the answers were rather nebulous, and I'd like some clarification.

Nvidia has said that the 9800M cards support Hybrid SLI. Does that mean that the cards by themselves are enough to obtain the benefits of the technology (such as HybridPower)? Or do they have to be on a motherboard that supports Hybrid SLI?

The reason why I'm asking is because I'm considering buying a NP9262 or NP5796, and I'm wondering whether these laptops will benefit from HybridPower's improved battery life.

    Thanks in advance!

Is hybrid SLI where the dedicated GPU can be switched off to leave onboard graphics such as the x3100 to run 2D enviroments?

OK, I found the answer to my question on Nvidia's website. It seems they have updated the Hybrid SLI description since I last checked.

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_9800m_gtx.html

If you go to 'Features', it says "NVIDIA Hybrid SLI technology delivers multi-GPU benefits when an NVIDIA motherboard GPU is combined with an NVIDIA discrete GPU."

I guess the question now is whether the Clevo NP9262 or NP5796 have a Hybrid SLI compatible motherboard. And this question is probably better suited for the Clevo section of the forum...

Yes. Hybrid SLI uses the dedicated card for demanding 3D apps and switches to the integrated card for less intensive apps, which increases the duration of battery power.
