I got tired of playing first person shooters. So I'm hardly playing my Battlefield 3 and Black Ops. I think Black Ops is way overrated and I don't see why this was a $60 game for over a year. So many games are FPS and I'm getting tired of them. But I admit I'm playing Rage and Red Orchestra a bit.

So my other games that I play instead of FPS are:
    Batman - both games
Company of Heroes - got 16 hrs in this
    World In Conflict
    F1 2010 & 2011
    The Settlers 7
    Anno 1404
    Torchlight
LA Noire - got stuck in the interrogation scene
    Alice: Madness Returns
    Driver San Francisco

Men of War : Vietnam stinks
Evochron Mercenary stinks because combat is too hard and being a trader is too boring

    Similar to FPS I'm playing:
    Skyrim
Lord of the Rings : War in the North
    Dungeon Siege 3
Mafia 2 - got stuck in the bank stamps robbery.
    Dead Island
I don't like the Assassin's Creed series that much because of the save game system. Can't do a quick save to save your progress.

So what do you think of FPS games? If you're tired of them what do you play?

I still play FPS Games, but the MW Games are a bit dull IMO.
The 3rd Person games like Batman are great..

But if you really want a good time, Check out Dawn of War 2, lot of action and a lot of fun.

I just quit playing my Portal 2 and Civ 5 ... not too interested in them.

I'm playing the Tutorial Campaign of Total War Shogun 2.

I played the demo of Dawn of War twice on Steam but I never bought the game because I didn't like it.

I totally get what you're feeling, OP. It's just the repetition that's kicking in that the game industry has releasing lately.

I've been playing Forza 4 Motorsport on Xbox 360. It might just be a racing game, but it's more challenging than you think. On the PC front, I've been playing Bioshock. It's an FPS, but it's a far cry (no pun intended) from the FPS we play today.

Just go and play other games! Like what you are doing now ;) . I know what you mean and I feel that too once in a while. Same goes for gameplay, shooting, sci-fi, medieval, magic... etc.

but its really just go and play other genres.

I'd definitely look into Diablo 3 when it comes out if I were you. Dungeon Defenders is a "cute" little tower defense/RPG sort of game that you can lose many hours of your life into. Magicka is another fun game that I pick up and play on-and-off, it's one of those easy-to-play-impossible-to-master sort of games. Other than those, I'm a HUGE fan of the Mass Effect series.

As much as I was wanting BF3 I ended up not really playing it.

Instead I play Starcraft 2 and Dungeon Defenders as my 2 regular games.

On the side games rotate as I beat them, so I have these going right now.

    Recently Beat:
    Sonic Generations
    Limbo

    Currently Playing:
    Skyrim
    Spacemarine
    Saints Row The Third
    Renegade Ops

    Future Plays:
    Dues Ex Human Revolution
    Batman Arkham City
    Guild Wars 2

I mayyy play D3 but I wont pre-order it or anything I will wait for it to be out and see how it settles.

The first FPS I played on PC/online was wolfenstein: enemy territory from its beginning and up til today. After playing the majority of other FPS games out there, it is the best, in my opinion. They dont make em like they used to, thats for sure.

im flexible, in my specialty, im in to fps games since when i began gaming, its fps, but i don't concentrate on fps much, most of the time, i cycle my games, 3ps, rpg, nba 2k12 (the only video game sports i like), racing, 2d etc..but idk, im not really into RTS games (have tried but didn't liked it, preferred real time shooting etc.)

    I agree.

I found the Single Player Campaign of the FPS Medal of Honor to be much more involving and fun. It wasn't just a continual stream of enemies, but more like the older Delta Force Games, where you could plot your way through some of the missions. Lots of fun, and a very underrated game.

You think Skyrim is similar to an FPS? Dungeon Siege 3!? Assassin Creed Autosaves every few minutes... I see no need to quick save on a mission, that takes the fun and challenge out of it.

Would Portal/P2 fall in the category? I grew weary of FPS, but after playing that, I remembered what fun was.

I hated Crysis 2 because they went with a Save Checkpoint system that ruined the Crysis games. I like Crysis 1 and Warhead way better.

I played Mass Effect 2 a little but lost interest.

I didn't like Bioshock and did bother to buy Bioshock 2 - not into it's retro look.

I only played Assassin's Creed 1 and I didn't like it's savegame system. I would lose all progress when he did a suicide jump instead of climb a ledge for a viewpoint. Never tried my AC 2 or Brotherhood yet.

I only played the first, but I would say it's more a symptom than an antidote... It was fun and all, but felt like a kind've muddy mash-up of a lot of the things that drain my enthusiasm for gaming over time. It's notable that it was one of the last things I played before I put down gaming for the last couple months.

I love FPS. To me theres nothing better then coming home from a long day of work, and killing aliens monster etc. to let off steam. I will admit I don't play every FPS to come down the pike. I try to play different kinds of games-like racing games. I'm playing Kingdom of Amalur right now, a hacker slasher type game I generally don't play, and I'm having a great time. I'm surprised at the number of times I'm killed. :D I played BF3 and hated it, I played COD:MW 3 and loved it. If you asked me those games are bascially the same, but I hated one and loved the other. Right now I'm devouring the ME 3 demo, and can't wait for the full release in March.

If I'm reading the thread right, a lot of people are just playing the FPS games one right after another. If thats the case, its like eating your favorite food over and over, and over, and over. At some point you'll say enough already.

    LONG LIVE THE FPS.!!!

They re-vamped a LOT of it with the 2nd one. Gameplay is much more fluid. If you get all of the DLCs, its is a really killer experience.

Yeah, I'm tired of FPS's as well, I needed a more casual game that doesn't require the amounts of adrenaline and focus FPS's did. Been playing Star Trek Online as it's free to play, and it's been incredibly awesome and has fulfilled my gaming needs perfectly.

Guys, I wouldn't consider Skyrim in the FPS genre. For one obvious fact, you can always switch to 3rd Person view. Now you're playing a game like Mass Effect or Fable.
