Hello, I am having a problem here with several questions.
There are several games on my computer that I'd like to run with controls as if I were playing on a PS3 or Xbox. For example, playing Black Ops with PS3 controls on a PC controller on the PC.
There are three options I am considering, which first was using my PS3 controller and installing the six-axis drivers. This would save me the hefty some of purchasing a controller. I'm a heavy wireless gadget user... so the other two options I had were purchasing the Logitech F710 or the Wireless Xbox Controller for Windows.
I tried installing the drivers and tried different methods of actually getting my PS3 controller to work. I got up to the part where when I install the drivers, my controller lights up and rumbles, however pressing the PS button does not do anything on my computer, therefore I can't setup or bind keys to the controller. I'd like to attempt this again, but if not I'd like to move onto option 2.
I have Windows 7 64-bit
I don't have bluetooth, so I won't be able to go wireless![]()
I also already have another Logitech device, my Logitech G700 mouse which has a "G-Series" Wireless Receiver. I noticed that the Logitech F710 has a small wireless receiver as well, and I was wondering if it were possible to use one wireless receiver to connect both of my devices if I were to purchase the F710. In short, I was wondering if I'd be able to use one logitech receiver to connect two logitech devices. If I can't use one receiver for two devices, I might move onto option 3, depending on comfort input of these controllers.
For the Xbox scenario, I really want to know if the Xbox controls can be customized similarily to the Logitech SetPoint software uses. Such as specifically binding a command to one of the Xbox buttons using a program.
And if anyone else could help me, I'm trying to compile a list of controls for both the PC and PS3/Xbox for these games that I have:
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Dragon Age: Origins
Need For Speed 11: Hot Pursuit
Oblivion IV
GTA IV
World of Warcraft compatible for Logitech F710 or Xbox controller?
Space = X
W/A/S/D = Analog...
Buffs = D-stick
other options.. w.e.
Would it be easier to setup controls on the F710 or xbox controller?
Do you guys also have any recommendations for your favorite PC games? I haven't read about video games recently, and I'm not sure what's new and great as of this moment. Finally, what do you guys recommend out of the three? Comfortable, Ease of controls(Customizing), Ease of Installation... etc.

I was just checking out those two threads too x)
What would you pick in your opinion? -
Can anyone help me with attempting to install my ps3 controller as well? I am unsure if I need bluetooth because I do not have a dongle nor the internal card... I'd really like to get the ps3 controller working, however I think the f710 or 360 controller will suffice.
This is what I meant with 1 receiver, multiple devices. Can anyone provide some experience or input on how to get this working? -
It seems that you'll need the device to be unifying compatible and a controller isn't in the list of unifying compatible devices
Go for the 360 controller I'd say. If you want wireless for the 360, you require the wireless adapter thingy for it though. The PS3 controller... I dunno ._. Looking at the gamepad review thread, there's a link at the PS3 controller section for the 3rd party program to use it though I'm not sure about it being wireless. -
I don't really mind the PS3 not being wireless, I just wish I could get it to work.
I guess the Logitech g700 receiver is a dedicated unifying receiver, therefore it is not compatible with the unifying technology... that means I have to use two different ports for each option.. >.<
I think my g700 and (if i were to get) the f710, they would work with the same receiver. The research I'm getting is leading me to believe that I just need to download a driver that'll allow for it to happen.
So basically my three options have changed..
1. PS3 - OEM feeling, free... but can't get it to work, and no wireless
2. Xbox - Feels good, extra dongle = no more usb ports
3. f710 - feels... ???, setpoint software = easy customization
If anyone has any experience with the ps3 and xbox customization of buttons, would you explain to me how it works? That would help me select a controller...
I just need to know if I am able to bind keys and key functions to buttons on the ps3 or xbox controller using a specific program, and if there are any buttons that might not possibly work for a function (i.e. xbox home button)
I'm going to be attempting the ps3 controller install in the meantime, and I'll post information about my problems... as of now, does anyone have experience installing the ps3 software onto an 64-bit Win7 OS? -
WONDERFUL! I got it! Now I just have to test restarting and stuff to see if the drivers will load whenever windows is loaded so all I have to do is just plug in my controller...
This is just wonderful! Alright then, I am planning on making a new thread for those who are converting Controller Commands from Game systems to PC controls.
Anyways... Can someone help me figure out the PS3 controls for:
Black Ops
Dragon Origins
Oblivion IV
NFS 11
GTA IV -

PS3 works both wired & wireless (via bluetooth)
The newest motioninjoy drivers apparently dont even require signing. -

You're going to get your whooped if you use your PS3 controller in Black Ops on the PC. Mouse and keyboard is way faster than the controller, just sayin'.
There is no aim assist on the PC either. -
If you're trying to get you PS3 controller to work with a 64bit version of Windows, follow the steps on this link. I know the website is specific for FFXIV, but the steps are the same to get the controller to work for any game. I found the guide there very helpful to get my PS3 controller working for my PS2 Emulator.
The latest MotionJoy drivers claim that they don't need to be signed, but I still had to use the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider so I'm not sure about the validity of that claim. Or maybe I did something wrong, who knows.
And in case you need further confirmation, the receivers on those two Logitech products aren't compatible with the other device. The Logitech Unifying Receiver is the one that can accept signals from all compatible products, but gamepads, unfortunately, aren't one of them. -
For the PS3 on Win7 64-bit... I was able to get it to work.
I downloaded the motioninjoy driver + vibration thing, and the DSEO tool to run test mode to sign the drivers. I also used Xpadder to bind keys to my buttons...
I'm wondering now, can I now "disable test mode" on DSEO or should I just leave it alone? I already cleared the watermark on it..but I want to know if it'll affect my performance and future options when using this computer. -
If you disable test mode, your controller won't work. It won't have any affect at all on your system. Though if you're really OCD about it, you can just disable test mode when you aren't gonna use your controller and enable it when you are. But like I said, it's perfectly fine to leave it as it is now.

test mode does nothing more than allow installation of unsigned drivers you can leave it on, if you have the watermark removed your essentially back to normal.
Though the new drivers I was told do not even need driver signing or anything like that, since they paid for a windows license. -
the3vilGenius 3vil knows no fear
you can wait till the 15th and get the razer onza tournament. It has a usb cable that you can plug in the PC. no need for drivers
