Hi guys im having an acer 6935g with an nvidia 9600m gt

    The card runs at
    gpu core 500
    memory clock 400
    shaders at 1250

I was very dissapointed with the card so i overclocked it using nvidia system tools 6.05
My os win 7 64 bit

So after overclocking it is like that
    gpu 701
    memory clock 481
    shaders 1550

the overall performance was very good

    My question is...
I checked for the temperatures while i was playing wow and as i see before overclock it was 50 C
after overclock it just run for 55 c to 56 C and sometimes 54 C.
Is that safe for my card?
    Can i boost it more?
Will the life span be reduced keeping it at 56 C?

    Thanks in advance?

Do a search. GPU temps on high performance cards often reach into the mid 80C range.

Make sure your temps are full load temps, those sound like idle temps.

Try using HW Monitor, run a game or something intensive for a while, then look out for the temp spikes on your computer.

If you want to stress it to see the load you can use Furmark 1.7, it should push the video card past what ever game is capable, run a stability test to see the graph of tempertaure. Also Download GPUz have it runing in the background (go the sensor tab and enable continue monotoring in the background), furmark will also post the clocks on the test. Also if you want dl HWmonitor and have it run in the background, it will record the max temps of your card.

I run the furmark for 25 mins and the temperature was even lower to 52 C.
i dont know what to believe system tools 55 or furmark 52 anyways i thinks the current temperaturefor winter time is good.
    What do u think?

Did you stress test and check your GPU for stability after applying the new clocks? Overclocking is not a quick thing, it takes time to do properly.

    >.> can you run gpu-z and furmark in a window and post a screen shot of what gpu-z says while furmark is running? I'm rather skeptical about these temps.

Those seem way cold for full load temps. Are you using your computer from the freezer?

As long as you dont experience heat issues or artefacts while using the notebook it should be alright.

I'm not sure that's possibile, acer laptops are known for heat issues, im pretty sure its imposibile to have such low temps on a full loaded laptop, especially an acer one. Please post a screenshot.

i ll try and post pictures its kinda weird im getting these values after overclocking.
The truth is that in summer times my card without overclocking it had the same temperatures as now 55 C.
So i suppose i can keep these values as i get 55 to 56 degrees for winter time.

I dunno maybe theres not much heat cause im using an external monitor and not my notebook's monitor..who knows..

Download GPUz have it runing in the background (go the sensor tab and enable continue monotoring in the background), furmark will also post the clocks from GPUZ while the test is runing. Also if you want dl HWmonitor and have it run in the background, it will record the max temps of your card. Then just open furmark, Click stability test, extreme burning mode, full screen (use your screen native resolution if it doesn't appear in the box then you can use the custom to type your resolution).

The more time the better to look for stability, but 1000sec should be enough, almost the full screen of the graph.

I also tried it with wow after 3 hours of playing and temperature was 56 again.
At the start temperature was 50 to 51.
Then i just opened the windows of furmark gpuz and hw monitor at the same window so i can watch them all together and temperature raised from 50 to 55-56

Well according to this spec 9600M GT, at stock has Core Speed 500 MHz, Shader Speed 1250 MHz, Memory Speed 800 MHz. From your furmark picture (not sure if furmark or gpuz is bugged), but your memory is runing at 481? take a picture of the GPUz only (no test, just to see the clocks).

Reignjuste we need to see a picture with gpu-z running in the sensor tab with continues update checked. You also need to be running furmark in "window mode" this will allow us to see everything. So far we have nothing to show that your overclock is even working. You can also run 3dmark 06 and post back with your score. If its a normal score then we will know the temperatures are correct. I suppose its possible your temperatures are correct though seeing as your gpu memory is running at half speed.

perhaps its because ur memory clock is 481 lol? the default should be 800

The memory is DDR2 so the default clock is not 800MHz but 400MHz.
Another way to see if the temps are correct is to touch the surface of the laptop, on the keyboard or the bottom close to the vents. If the surfaces are not hot then probably the soft is showing the right temps. Believe me if the temps of your card are over the top you won't be able to touch the surface for a long time.
Rorschach is right, if you run the 3DMark06, we will be able to determine if your card is being stressed too much under these over-clocked values. Run the test with default values, then with over-clocked values lower than the ones you are using now (like 600 core, 450 memory, 1350 shaders) and finally with the ones that you reported (700 core, 481 memory, 1550 shaders). It should give us an idea how it scales up and if your card is behaving as it should at those very high values. I find 3Dmark06 a very good tool if you overclocking your card. You can see which values are affecting the performance the most (you will notice that overclocking memory has te biggest effect on the score) and how far high it is worth to overclock (you will reach a point especially with the core and shaders clock where higher clocks won't have any effect on the score).

according to reviews of this laptop it does use gddr3 memory so the clocks are running at half speed. It could very well be the reason it runs a cooler.

yeah thats what i also suppose.
the fact is that when i bought this laptop they told me it was dd3.(seems like they tricked me :(
memory should be at 400 mhz because its ddr2.
yesterday i was playing wow for 5 hours and the temperature was 56 max (54 to 55 current) with no problems.
Though i dont know if there will be any problems in the future..

is the temp monitoring tool accurate? some of them are ridiculously inaccurate.

for example HWmonitor reports my girlfriend's acer's T9550 is 22*C when the ambient temperature in singapore is 32*C LOL

maybe his temps are true, eugene- your ambient temp in malaysia could explain the 5-10*c difference in your reported temps and his, if the OP is from a colder country.

seems to me like he's right about his temps, but much like HWmonitor on my girlfriend's acer aspire 4937g it might be the software reporting inaccurate temps

I'm sorry but I see no problem here. There were two versions of this computer- the one with 512MB video memory was equipped with GDDR3 and 1GB version with DDR2.
Screenshot of GPU-Z from Polish review of this computer confirms your clocks are OK. http://www.notebookcheck.pl/uploads/pics/gpuz_13.gif

Your temps are surprisingly low because the same review mentions 58-76*C (with ambient temperature of 23*C) but that is nothing to worry about.

as for the big difference in temperatures..
I repeat im using an external monitor with max res 1280x1024 4:3(not my notebook's monitor)

But i dont know if this affects the temperature of my video card

well it looks normal to me.
As i said before i was playing for about 5 hours wow and there were no problems..

What would happen if i make it like this:

    core 500
    memory 400 to 800
    shaders 1250
    will be dangerous?

i would take it one step at a time... slow clock up until you notice artifacts or weird behavior.. jumping from 400 to 800 is a huge step and can cause unforeseen consequences

indeed very weird, either something's wrong with the temp detection, either he has an imba cooler wich i would want to own.

must be a temp detection issue. as i said my gf's acer has that issue as well. kind of dangerous to overclock if you cant get reasonably accurate temp readings.

yeah, looking at the latest picture you posted, something not right with your CPU temps, so I'd guess the GPU isn't reading right either... there's no way the CPU is running that cool, and I struggle to believe the GPU is as well...

for comparisons sake, to make you feel better about 56C and Nvidia chips, my 260GTXm runs at 95C+ regularly, and my prior computer, a Toshiba with SLI Nvidia 8600GT's would run 98C+, even hit low 100C's occasionally... these suckers run hot, and for some reason mine always run really hot ha.

Knock on wood, but the Toshiba never had problems.
