So yeah, I just got Far Cry 2.
And I actually like it better than Fallout 3. It's a real shooter, the engine is way better, the world is big enough, the RPG elements in Fallout 3 didn't really satisfy me..
Overall, I personally think FC2 is more awesome than Fallout 3.
Anyone else feel like this?

Haven't tried either yet
But I plan on starting tomorrow beacuse I have a week off
I'll get back to you once I have played both.
However I feel as though I will also like FC2 because I generally enjoy FPS more than RPGs
PS- Love your display pic
Freakin hilarious -
dont waste your money on either imo..
-
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Haven't played Fallout 3 yet, but I am totally addicted to FC2.
- Graphics are great
- Gameplay is solid
- Open world is very open!
- Characters are good
- Voice acting is good
People complain about repetition... not me. I am doing almost all the side missions and the main missions. I will also go a bit out of my way just to stir the pot with whatever mercs or checkpoints are around. Sometimes I'm stealthy, sometimes I'm Rambo. I will go from boat to jeep to glider to jeep to boat etc... to get from A --> B. This game is not about traveling in a straight line and getting things done in a linear manner. This game is all kinds of awesome. -

Can't wait to try it tommorow with dox's 180.70 drivers -
Farcry 2 is a hardcore FPS, its way too big, if you wanna walk to somewhere it can take you hours without a vehicle, and i like that personally

-
well, i'm actually waiting for it, but getting tired already
-
I'm enjoying both, but would give the nod to FC2 if I could only pick one. So, I agree.
-
Hmm, I a very impressed with Fallout3.
The sense of humor and gameplay and roleplay elements blend together very well. This is so far my favorite single-player game in existance.
I don't own Farcry2 yet, but I'd suppose it is more targetted for the FPS people and less for the roleplayers, whereas Fallout3 is the opposite. -
I like Far Cry 2 more than Fallout 3 because it has better graphics. I like Crysis more than Far Cry 2 because it has even better graphics

I only have far cry 2, and it's really a great game. Favorite part has to be the array of different weapons you can get access to.
-
I just finished Far Cry 2 a few days ago (took me more than 40 hours according to xfire...
)and I like the game a lot in general. The main story is quite long and interesting (love the weapons as well) but the only thing I didn't like near the end is that eventually I got bored of driving way too much. Other than that it's a great game. I have more than 300 diamonds unspent at the end and I didn't even do all the side missions...o.o I only did all of the side missions on the first half of the game...lol
I've got Fallout 3 as well but haven't really got time to play it much yet. Only played for like 2 hours I think.Been playing CoD5 online a lot and waiting for GTA IV for pc to come out at the same time so I can hardly sleep now...>_<

I really wish you could've had an alternative ending to FC2. Not that I didn't think it was good, but I wish that... Well, you know...
BTW, to anybody who is wondering to what book the jackal quotes in the beginning, it is "Heart of Darkness", to which they pay homage in the end by an area. That's where they (sort of) got the storyline and ending. -

Different styles of games as others have already pointed out, big-open sandbox shooter nuts will like Far Cry 2 while those who like a big world with lots of exploration and shooting will like Fallout 3.
-
Uh yeah im with narsnail, DO not spend a cent on either of the games.
They are trash and unoriginal, and not to mention boooorrriinnggg...
Try Dead Space now thats a fun game.
Ima go play it now. -
Ya,disliked both of them myself.
-
Fallout 3 is good, but I refuse to buy Far Cry 2, because of the draconian DRM it contains.
-
+1 for neither; play WoW instead =)

I can't wait to try both. I've been completely out of the gaming world these past couple of months. Nothing but COD4 for me over and over whenever I have free time lol

Hell, I can tell you CoD4 is way more intense than Dead Space could ever hope to be, for example. It also has more variety than Fallout 3. Somewhere along the line in Bethesda's chain of command, someone is turning the halfway decent concept art into ugly, samey environments. In Oblivion it wasn't so bad because at least caves and castles were a different color than the outside world, but in Fallout 3, everything is brown and/or gray. -

CoD4 has the best scripted and realistic feeling single player. Its a must play but after you beat it, you end up in multiplayer. Again a lot of fun... for awhile then it gets boring fast. The only thing that kept me going was gaining ranks for more perks but even that was not enough to keep me there.
Fallout 3 is more like Oblivion than a shooter, its just Oblivion with gunsand more mature of course. I did not like it at first but it grew on me and now i find myself playing it daily and that says alot for a game because I am a very casual gamer and may only play once a week or so.
Its great because there is SOOO much to do, you can be bad/good, choose your stats & combat type, do side missions or just the main mission ect. I am struggling as a gunner this game all my good guns never have ammo and the mobs take wayyy to many shots with the common ammo guns and im out of stim packs.... so next game I am going hand 2 hand combat
Id share some of what I think are the coolest moments in FO3 but I do no want to spoil it for anybody.
FC2 is the sequel to FC1 same type of game, I cant give my opinion on it much since I have not played it yet but I know exactly what kind of game it is. I know I will enjoy it too as I loved the original and Crysis. Just all of them after I beat it 1.5 times end up collecting dusk, not much if any replay.
So in that way FO3 wins as the best game since you can easily get more hours and replay out of it. However it is not fair to compare the two games as they are totally different its not apples to apples. -
I know it's different genres we're talking about here.
But I guess I'm just talking about the "fun" factor. After completing Fallout 3 and THAT'S IT, YOU CAN'T GO ON, now I don't even want to start it all over again... It just bores me.
But I can't look forward to finish work and get on Far Cry 2, on the other hand -
So what are you going to compare next - an adventure game vs survival horror? Maybe compare Warhammer Online to GTA IV? Because all of the above are totally comparable and in the same game genres and intended for the same audiences.
Get out of my RPG, you FPS players :/
Also, the modding potential. -
WoW really should have a 13-(minus) rating to warn adults mentally older than 13 that they should not play this game unless they want to wish they were sterile. -
Far Cry 2 is purely a first person shooter. Fallout 3 is primarily an RPG with first person shooter elements. Plus Fallout 3 is a slower paced game than Far Cry 2.
I think the worst game I played in a while was Spore. Talk about an overrated, oversimplified, mess of a game. The DRM stinks too.
I actually like Far Cry 2 better than Fallout 3. Rant.
