I own The Elder Scrolls III: goty and i cant get it to work right on my laptop. I can get the base game to work but my graphics dont act completely right (flashes, disapearing objects, etc.) and I can,t play the expansions. I have been able to get the entire game to work on my desktop by installing it to the c:\ drive. Both computers run on vista. Do you have any suggestions for running tes3 goty on my laptop correctly?

As far as I know, the KoToR(I and II) are the only games which have trouble running on Vista(sometimes they do, sometimes they don't). Except for that, only really really old games would have compatibility issues. I remember games which wouldn't run on XP and I had to dual boot with Windows 2000 to make them work >.>
As for Vista only games, there are quite a few last I checked(or at least games which say they only work on Vista). -
It's most likely you are trying to run the game on an igp(x3100 etc.) or an old graphics card not suited to intensive games like oblivion.
The specs will clear that up.
Scarface doesn't play nice with vista; no textures, just floating "things"... and water.
Solution:

Morrowind isn't graphically intensive, it's from 2002, I ran it fine on my old toshiba with 1.66 core duo and the intel graphics were worse than the x3100. That lappy had XP Pro though, I'm going to assume Vista is creating problems?

Some ATi driver versions has issues like you mention. My old HD2600XT had flashing objects everywhere.
I can't get The Elder Scrolls III to work correctly
