So I have been browing your forums for a while and decided I would join the ranks, and at the moment I really need some help, I am about to purchase a new laptop, I am focusing on 2 at the moment, and I need some guidance about what I should purchase...I am stuck >,<

Like I said I really need some guidance, I am looking for powerful gaming on a mobile level, but I am really not sure if the 2nd choice is worth it, because I dont see a review of it anywhere, but the ad itself was in laptop magazine March 2006 issue...so I really dont know what to do :(

For once, I can't recognize the ODM of a laptop; I've never seen that 17" laptop before. Generally, Cyberpower isn't very good, at least according to most people around here, especially service-wise. As for sellers of the Quanta, both ISTNC and Powernotebooks are excellent.

But really, those are pretty different systems. The 17" is going to have better 3D performance, but it's going to be a lot heavier, bulkier, and have shorter battery life. It all depends, I suppose, on how much you value portability. If you want a good 17" system, I recommend you go with the Dell E1705 instead.

The KN1-PM is a very good 15.4" system, but since I wrote the review I'm not the most objective source of information.

    Hi Forumula1, welcome to NotebookReview.com.

CyberPower gets some pretty poor comments around here, and their rating on www.resellerratings.com isn't so great.

In our What Should I Buy forum, we have an FAQ you can fill out that helps us find a notebook for your needs, check that out. :)

    EDIT: -that's a Compal notebook.

The 2nd one is going to be quite a bit more powerful when it comes to games. And that screen is also likely to look better then the one on the first.

Thanks for the help, basically I just want a laptop that can run HL2 on High Settings, and that is enough to satisfy me, I think a Go6600 can do that  ...last laptop I had had an integrated Intel chip so I have no idea, flanken what do you think since you wrote the review? Would you mind going to this url to test a few games that would run on the Quanta Laptop, it just scans your laptop and tells how well your computer would run the game(s), would you mind trying it on Half Life 2, & battlefield 2, here is the url

That's an interesting little application there. It says that it can run both games just fine, and that it's in the top 25% of all systems scanned. Basically, I think it just scans your system specs and compares it to minimum requirements.

As far as I've heard, the 6600 should be able to run HL2 and BF2 just fine; it'll probably handle HL2 on high settings as well.

either of those will suit you. the 6600 is quite powerful, x700 being slightly more powerful. keep in mind that a 17inch laptop is quite the behemoth and a pain to carry around.

i have a 17 inch powerbook, and this z70va is imo much lighter.

hope this helps, and good luck with your purchase.

    pb,out.

Ditto on the asus z7ova. Better in everyway right down to post sales support which you will find unmached from asus and their dealers.
