I currently have an nvidia 8800 GTS 320mb in my desktop PC, which mobile video card compares with it?

most of the time im not in the house, so i kinda got detached from my desktop PC because i could barely use it. I decided to plunge in for a nice Sager gaming laptop that has a 9800M GTS 512mb in it.... but i have NO IDEA how fast this thing is compared to the 8800 i have in my desktop, which is pretty fast btw.... is there any chance on earth that the 9800M can compare to it? or is there anything out there thats just as fast?

Based on 3Dmark06 scores and a very quick comparison from some benches looks like anything from the 8800gts and up would be pretty close assuming your cpu clocks were about the same, with a notebook with sli most likely besting it.

u sure? its pretty funny too because this card aint that old but the 8800GTS is insanely huge w/ a huge fan/heatsink.... its funny how a small little video card has the same performance...

A 8800 GTS 320mb version is similar in performance to a 8800M GTX or a 9800M GT. The 9800M GTS is more or less a lesser 9800M GT(5% difference) so their performance should be similar.

Of course, that's pure on sheet brute power. Your desktop 8800 GTS might have a notebook equivalent in terms of performance, but in terms of heat management, speed and other things, yours will be better because to its size and the lack of space compacting.

Which desktop 8800GTS are you talking about? There are so many it's rather ridiculous. Because a G80 8800GTS 320/640 is a joke compared to the G92 8800GTS 512.

My 9800M GTX stock scores just above the 8800 GTS 640MB, I'd say the 8800 GTS is similar to the 8800M GTX or 9800M GT card.

its about the 8800m GTX/9800m GT level, the 8800/9800m GTS are about the same as those though, that should be fine.

My brother has the 8800 GTS 320 in his desktop. He gets 3dMark scores of around 9500. I have the 8800 GTX SLi in my notebook, get 3dMark scores of just over 13000. So yeah I'd reckon a single desktop 8800 gts would be about on par with a single 8800M GTX in a notebook.

The 9800M GTS is equivalent to a desktop 9600GT and the 9600GT is faster than the 8800GTS 320. Of course the 9800M might not be clocked as high but it should have more headroom.

Like i said i get 9500's on 3DMark06 so if people are saying the 8800 gts 320mb gets 9500's then... this thread could probably have been closed long ago... sorry for posting this lol
