i'd say forget about 3d, just get regular 1080p projector around $600

but i love 3d its so immersive and i dont see how the z axis is a gimmick when compared to x and y axis
-
For me it's all about raising the experience. If you ask me you are wasting too much money on things you are barely will be using:
- the consoles are useless unless you REALLY REALLY want to play a certain exclusive game. Since both consoles area already bottlenecks for new games while they are considered new consoles.
- You are getting a projector AND a tv? If you have a dark room, that has good light isolation, and/or a projector with strong lumen output, then go with the projector, otherwise go with the TV. If you have a projector and a TV, I'm pretty sure you will prefer one above the other and try to avoid the other.
- The shield tablet is useless for you imho. You already are going to buy a strong smartphone (personally, I don't like Iphones. It's very good for the average user, but not me as a computer scientist. I prefer phones with OLED screens, I like android because of having a file manager, support for storage expansion (in most cases), no app installing restrictions, no 3rd party app such as itunes required for content transfer, I can torrent on my android, ...)
- Again, a strong gaming laptop and a strong gamign PC? If you already have a strong gaming desktop, it's better to have your laptop be very portable, instead of a heavy machine with a 980M. Go with a smaller thing, that is more premium such as business line laptops. Nvidia can now stream games from desktop to laptop anyway. THough only buy the laptop if you really care about the portability.
- Oculus will get soon a consumer release I'd say wait for that.
- Dre beats are ONLY good if you want to show off to below avarage/average ppl around you for it's looks, otherwise way better solutions out there.
Like I said for me it's all about ONE experiance. What I'd do is:
- Get an OLED TV, lg has now a 55 inch one if I'm correct (gotta love the popping colors AND the deep blacks)
- Get myself a VERY NICE chair, You sit there for hours. gotta be comfortable as possible
- Get myself a nice strong laptop, or a small tower mITX pc (if the working place provides a laptop for work). I'm not very skeptical about quality. 60fps is more then enough for me, and FXAA is more then enough as an anti aliasing method. But wouldn't be problem If I cannot support AA.
- Invest in some good peripherals. A nice surround sound setup, a good mechanical keyboard, a nice mouse.
If I have all these. I'm all set Up I don't need anything else beside upgrading when necessary. -

thanks im thinking of a 4k 3d lg tv in my living room for when people come over.
im thinking of a bulb 1080p projector for my bedroom as i used to have a projector and the setup for the 120in elite screen is still up just need a projector
im thinking just keep this laptop for surfing in my bedroom at night before i goto bed and my new mid range laptop for modest gaming on the projector and tv easy to move it from room to room vs desktop ect.
im thinking eureka
edit i prefer android also it was just an idea for the iphone 6
sheaild tablet for taking with me out of the home for music but then again id prefer the note 4 for music on the bus or going for walks or cab rides ect...lol your prob wondering why i dont just buy an ipod....me aswell -
Save it.
I found I was in a similar boat, I had tons of tech goodies, but a lot of them I didn't use like I thought I would. Especially the shield. I've downgraded to a P170SM-A that I mostly maxed out, a Surface Pro 2, and a Note 4. That's it. If I can't do it with the devices listed above, it's probably not worth doing at the current time. Now I just save $ like crazy. It beats buying a bunch of stuff you'll later end up selling on eBay and taking a hit for, haha. -
No offense, but this thread hints strongly of someone trying to live beyond his means...

Well in your case, if your disability is truly legit, all the more power to you, and God bless. Hope you can have fun with your new toys.

Just some fruit for thought... Unless you are rich, or plan to work until you literally fall over dead, you may want to check this out: Retirement income calculator. I recommend setting aside a couple hundred a month.

Pick 2 or 3 things from your list. Forget about the rest.

Take that 1000 per month and invest it in a 401K or IRA. You can cut much of that off, much of it isn't relevant for a good gaming experience.

Agreed on much of the stuff being just fluff. One desktop is all you need to rule them all.
-
But yeah, you could be dead by 60, and if all you do is save, save, save, you never reap the rewards of that money in your younger years especially. But saving nothing is not a good idea at all. -
As with most things in life it's about the balance (pun intended), but it's never easy finding that perfect compromise between spending and saving. One rule I laid down for myself is to never buy anything (except cars and houses) I can't pay in full with cash this instant. And yes I do have a credit card, but I treat it like it's electronic cash, which is why self-control is all the more important.
-
we get super (assuming its the same as your 401k)... after x years you can access it. Compulsory contributions from the employer...
the kicker is; if you waste all your money and your super , you get the pension straight afterwards....
god bless australia -

HT, sooo your a mangy sasquatch? ( if you don't get the reference go watch Kokanee beer commercials on youtube )
ok semi serious now, everyone, the guys all in all gave great advice, much of your list is pure marketing fluff and better options that you may use are available, I think Quicksort did a very good answer, but I am aware we all have different tastes and needs.
secondly I really have to back everyone advice on setup savings and/or retirement funds ( I am clueless on that matter in the USA ) if you have 1050 disposable tax free per month I would say slam half that into savings & retirement, personally I would say $250/month into RRSP, 401K or whatever you call it for retirement, and $250/month into direct savings. that way if one month you do need an extra little you can still feed retirement and a bit less in savings. this will also help if you decide to make larger purchases as you can have a pretty good balance after a year, and depending on tax laws etc you could flip savings balance into GIC's or other investments. ALWAYS keep a savings balance for those pesky emergencies that can and will come up, or if you decide to purchase a house, property or update or continue education or a million other things.HTWingNut likes this. -
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Yeah, I'll agree with the rest here, just buy a few things and put everything else under the mattress, periodically buying one or another thing when needed. I wouldn't recommend spending everything on so much useless crap.

thanks alot guys, sucks being so dumb
I have the choice between financing a 850m laptop thats excellent all around
or
I have the choice of getting back my 1080p lg 3d tv and buying a ps4 with gta v fav game ever
you guys vote one or the other as i cannot afford much else besides a projector and im not buying a crappy second laptop for 800 -
I think the first thing you might want to do is consider what you will use the most or need the most and start there. Then if you really are interested start looking into purchasing the rest. I would start with the laptop, tv, Xbox one, and go from there.
-
I'm not sure I understand. $1000/mo to spend, but has to finance an 850m laptop?
-
thats in two months ht... im impatient as i have nothing right now besides a crappy laptop
-
then Get the laptop and then setup a plan starting in a month or two.
-
thanks btw im in alberta also....medicine hat yuck
-
lol, more towards Olds / Bowden myself. have family in Calg and Lethbridge. As for the Hat I agree, NOT my idea of a great place.
if you ever need general electronics help or even more computer information I can also give you my husbands e-mail address since your " semi " local
I will never plug for my husbands business ( plus he doesn't do gaming units much except desktops ), however I will say laptop wise maybe we should see what MemoryExpress in Calgary has. they will do instant replacements and swaps for you if there are issues and are close by. I can even put you in contact with a couple of his favorite sales and support people -
oh nice thanks alot
-
Also this is entirely a personal thing but I wouldn't finance anything that isn't a car or a house. If I can't pay for it in cash right now then I'm going beyond my means. If it's a 5K laptop or desktop then I either save up and buy everything at once, or spread out my purchases over several months. I saved up for my laptop, and technically I spread out my purchase for my desktop over 7 months, since the SSDs and monitor were parted out from my laptop.Tenspeed33, moviemarketing, killkenny1 and 2 others like this. -
Good advice N1. I persoanally put cars in the same catagory as laptops if they are performance vehicles.
I financed a laptop when I was a young guy. Nothing sucks more than having to make payments on a aging piece of hardware. -
I feel sorry for the people whose tax dollars are going to fund this guy's computer spending spree.

I have mental retardation and
Schizophrenia (/ˌskɪtsɵˈfrɛniə/ or /ˌskɪtsɵˈfriːniə/) is a mental disorder often characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to recognize what is real. Common symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, auditory hallucinations, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and inactivity. Diagnosis is based on observed behavior and the person's reported experiences.
Genetics and early environment, as well as psychological and social processes, appear to be important contributory factors. Some recreational and prescription drugs appear to cause or worsen symptoms. The many possible combinations of symptoms have triggered debate about whether the diagnosis represents a single disorder or a number of separate syndromes. Despite the origin of the term from the Greek roots skhizein ("to split") and phrēn ("mind"), schizophrenia does not imply a "split personality", or "multiple personality disorder"—a condition with which it is often confused in public perception.[1] Rather, the term means a "splitting of mental functions", reflecting the presentation of the illness.[2]
The mainstay of treatment is antipsychotic medication, which primarily suppresses dopamine receptor activity. Counseling, job training and social rehabilitation are also important in treatment. In more serious cases—where there is risk to self or others—involuntary hospitalization may be necessary, although hospital stays are now shorter and less frequent than they once were.[3]
Symptoms begin typically in young adulthood, and about 0.3–0.7% of people are affected during their lifetime.[4] The disorder is thought to mainly affect the ability to think, but it also usually contributes to chronic problems with behavior and emotion. People with schizophrenia are likely to have additional conditions, including major depression and anxiety disorders; the lifetime occurrence of substance use disorder is almost 50%.[5] Social problems, such as long-term unemployment, poverty, and homelessness are common. The average life expectancy of people with the disorder is ten to twenty five years less than the average life expectancy.[6] This is the result of increased physical health problems and a higher suicide rate (about 5%).[4][7]

Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a neurological anxiety disorder that is characterized by excessive, uncontrollable and often irrational worry. For diagnosis of this disorder, symptoms must last at least six months.[1] This excessive worry often interferes with daily functioning, as individuals suffering GAD typically anticipate disaster, and are overly concerned about everyday matters such as health issues, money, death, family problems, friendship problems, interpersonal relationship problems, or work difficulties.[2] Individuals often exhibit a variety of physical symptoms, including fatigue, fidgeting, headaches, nausea, numbness in hands and feet, muscle tension, muscle aches, difficulty swallowing, bouts of difficulty breathing, difficulty concentrating, trembling, twitching, irritability, agitation, sweating, restlessness, insomnia, hot flashes, and rashes and inability to fully control the anxiety (ICD-10).[3] These symptoms must be consistent and ongoing, persisting at least six months, for a formal diagnosis of GAD to be introduced.[2]
In any given year, approximately 6.8 million American adults and two percent of European adults experience GAD.[4][5] GAD is seen in women twice as much as men. GAD is also commonly seen in individuals with a history of substance abuse and a family history of the disorder.[6] Once GAD develops, it may become chronic, but can be managed or eliminated with proper treatment.[7]
Standardized rating scales such as GAD-7 can be used to assess severity of generalized anxiety disorder symptoms.[8] GAD is the most common cause of disability in the workplace in the United States.[9]
as well as
Posttraumatic stress disorder[note 1] (PTSD) may develop after a person is exposed to one or more traumatic events, such as sexual assault, warfare, serious injury, or threats of imminent death.[1] The diagnosis may be given when a group of symptoms, such as disturbing recurring flashbacks, avoidance or numbing of memories of the event, and hyperarousal, continue for more than a month after the occurrence of a traumatic event.[1]
Most people having experienced a traumatizing event will not develop PTSD.[2] Women are more likely to experience higher impact events, and are also more likely to develop PTSD than men.[3] Children are less likely to experience PTSD after trauma than adults, especially if they are under ten years of age.[2] War veterans are commonly at risk for PTSD.
