    No. I suppose if you had an underpowered GPU that was not being cooled properly it could cause it to overheat... but even then the GPU will throttle down before damage is likely to occur.

    If this was true, that the many many many who have watched HD content on their TVs, desktops and laptops would be pretty ticked and you would have heard it on national news. :p

    Yeah, happens all the time. My computer pops up with warnings saying "Overload: HD Input at Max". So then I just flip on some low-res or somethin.
