...but what are the latest versions of drivers from nVidia for the 8700GT on XP-32???
Here: http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp
This says that 101.29 is the latest (to the right), but 165.01 is mentioned at the top of the list. But if you sort by date, then it is 163.16!

nVidia lists 162.18 as the latest release...???

The stock drivers are at 156.31. I don't want to use these, as I know how to install the GeForce drivers (not Quadro!) now so I want to set it up for gaming and not workstation stuff.
So yeah...can anyone shed some light???

windows xp 32-bit.
well, just looked into the drivers: u'll probably have to add 8700's id into the inf file for it to work -
The drivers are never named sequentially in numeric order. I always sort by date, and then the one on top is the "newest" driver. However, that doesn't mean best performance. My skepticism, plus the fact that I'm not a big fan of changing drivers every week, result in me just staying with the bioshock 163.44 drivers.

At nvidia site, they list 162 because it's the latest 'stable' release, you can find 163 at beta section. http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html
I also saw a thread at lv2go explaining something about mobile driver numbering, I'll search it and edit here later.

In the second post. I don't know if the guy is right, but I'm using 156 and it works great, while 163 caused some problems.
I know this is going to sound stupid...
