The X1600 is a DX9 compatible card (I'll get to this later). If you haven't read the graphics cards stickies at the top of the forums, keep in mind the X1600 is a "performance" card. This means it's quite powerful. It will run recent games like Oblivion or F.E.A.R. at acceptable settings at acceptable FPS.

Here's why the X1600 being DX9 compatible is important: Most of the current games that are coming out will be based on the DX10 platform - Supreme Commander, Crysis, Unreal Tournament 2007. The X1600 will be able to run these games, but only using DX9 features. DX10 features, such as improved physics, graphics, lighting, and shadows cannot be unlocked with a DX9 video card.

Nvidia is releasing DX10 compatible mobile video cards with the Santa Rosa release, scheduled for May. The Geforce Go 8600, 8400, and 8300 will be out then. The Go 8600 will be roughly as powerful as a current Geforce Go 7900GS - if you can wait for a few months, the first generation of mobile DX10 cards will be out to handle upcoming games.

I see... But Ill still be able to run Supreme Commander even if its dx10 right?
Plus I dont think i can afford dx10 card. Not for a notebook at least. So will this lappy satisfy my current needs :Oblivion Supreme Commander WoW .Medieval Total war????? How about Command And Conquer 3????? If Im able to play these games at med setings I will be very satisfied, as in games I look for gameplay , Im not that into eye candy or high res or max setings at all... What do you think??

And how about Hellgate:London . DO you think this setup will run it at med??

Yes, it will run, just not with DirectX 10 eye candy enabled.

It will run those games on medium to high settings at decent framerates.

Will run at medium settings in DirectX 9 mode.
