    Let's jump strait into it.

This laptop or another brand with the same cpu and gpu.

How does it do Starcraft II Retail? and on what settings?

Thanks a lot! everyone comment is very welcome.

    HP dv6-3030TX
    CPU - Intel® Core™ i5-540M processor* (2.53GHz, 3MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
Display Panel - 15.6" Diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Widescreen Display (1366x768)
    Standard Memory - 4096MB DDR3 1066MHz (2 Dimm)
    Hard drive - 640GB 5400RPM
Optical Drive - LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD±RW with Double Layer Support
    Networking⁄Wireless - 802.11b⁄g⁄n WLAN 10⁄100 Ethernet
Graphics - ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 5650 with 1GB Dedicated Video

p.s. please don't guess since sc2 has turned out to be a tricky one when it comes to performance and the need for raw Ghz.

I can run SC 2 with High settings on 1024x768 fine on my laptop (see specs in sig).
Yours should run it better on native res because both the CPU and the GPU are much better.

Try maxing it out on your native resolution (if my system is any indication, it should work fine on yours).

Ya, with those specs, you should be able to run at full res and on ultra.

1366x768 at High you should be fine. Tweak some advanced shaders, etc to get more fps, etc. You should be fine.

You should be able to basically max almost all out as long as there is around 4 or less players, with 6 ore more players you might have to lower setttings a small amount.

Have you searched around more for laptops that are cheaper and better? Try looking at Lenovo y560 the i5 version

It is around $900 and spec wise it is either equal or better then the hp

    i5-450m
    15.6 in, 1366x768
    4gig ddr3
320gb hardrive (the only thing less then hp but high capacity drives are extremly cheap nowadays)
Dvd Rw drive (rewritable and readable)
Ati Mobility 5730 <<for gaming the graphics card is basically the most important part and this card faster then 5650.

And finally perhaps the biggest thing is it supports switchable graphics on the i5 version, when switching over to the intel hd i can get 4 hours battery life.

Of course get whatever u like, jus tryin to give you some better things for perhaps cheaper.

i would say shoot for all settings on high, not ultra (ultra doesn't add much but destroys performance)

Consider Acer 4820TG or Lenovo Y460, similar specs, just to broaden your horizons.
